That's not all the way.........that's only 6000rpm
Yeah big difference between 14 and 20psi with these lil motors.......
........and for you info Steve, the notch went 1.10seconds at Wakefield with only 16 psi, worn out tyres and no rear trailing arm bushes .......you have quite a weapon at your disposal here

244kph sounds like a real handful. You'll need at least Conrod straight to get it wound right up!
we'll probably be out together at Wakefield so looking forward to that. had another outing at Lakeside in Jan but was running really high temps as
it was about 40 degrees ambient. both turbos are working but ran into the speed limiter at 180kph so have just bought a Mines No 2 ECU which will
raise revs by 500rpm and eliminate the speed limiter. Also increases the boost ceiling. Should be here in a week or so so will post some info then on
my thread....

Hi
There's no way I will find the limits of the bugs aerodynamics, but 5th is nice on the freeway.
My car has sat inside for too long near a river and has now developed a little bit of rust, the paint guy said he will fix soon but he wants me to
treat the area with some fish oil first.
Cant wait for Wakefield Lou, but cars a bit heavy, 1080 kgs +
Steve, here's Wallys Lbug doing 220km/h on the autobahn and that looks like its sitting still.
running 17psi boost too
I haven't been game to take mine past 180kmh, it felt stable enough but I was running out of road.

mine does 225kph (6100rpm) down Eastern Creek straight & it feels fine. Just like going to church on Sunday morning
I have taken it to just shy of 7000rpm a couple of times on a private test track, years ago when I was young & care free........
Both times the car felt fine, I'm sure the front spoiler with the air intake for the radiator had quite a bit to do with the stability.
Superbugs were made for these speeds
I love when you are doing 140kph in 4th & you put your foot down & it squats & takes off. LMAO. It never gets old.

absolutely the front spoiler would help. with VWs flat floor pan unlike other cars it would really help to create a strong vacuum to hold the car
down. Vacuum + large flat surface area = strong down force.
I want to put a spoiler on my type 3, seen some pics of a front spoiler and its to die for. looks sick but tasteful for an old car at the same time.

Hi
Disappointing day at the dyno today.
With all the heat buildup around radiator because of the lack of airflow, the fuel pump started to make funny noises and cavitate and was making the
motor run hairy over 5,000.
So I have a safe tune upto 5000, I will need to tune the eBoost at the track.
So no power figures as such but I did see 169kw on the screen once, the dyno is a very old but a good one but is not hooked up to printers etc like
later dynos.
So the question is do I have another dyno run to get a peice of paper that I can flash around or just leave it as it is.
I also will need to rethink my fuel pump layout.

Hi
I just had a thought.
I'm running a VSS of my front wheel so the ECU wasn't receiving a speed input on the dyno.
I'm also using the factory fuel pump controller which varies fuel pump speed depending on power loads.
So I wonder if my ECU wasn't upping the fuel pump speed because it thought the car wasn't moving ?

That sounds like exactly what it could be, if your fuel pump speed depends on the speed of which the car is moving, it would be starving the
injectors.
Hopefully you can get it resolved, but maybe something like Joel's setup around the rear axle is needed?

can't you just reconfigure that in the ecu program?

Move the sensor to the rear
Do another dyno session Steve, that's not enough!
You should be over 200kw and 8000rpm easy peasy
What pumps and regulator are you using?..........rising rate regulator is enough on the notch with pumps running constant speed.

Hi
Im using a VDO sensor that runs off the speedo cable, so that cant be moved, the G50 has an electric speedo output, I may be able to use that for
VSS.
My fuel pump was making some horible noises on the dyno. Its an eBay 044, I callled into the local EFI spares place today, it appears to be non
genuine so it could be a Chinese copy.
I bought genuine 044 from them, I will fit that tomorrow. Next week I will move the surge tank and pump to the rear of the car.
At the moment I have a Carter lift pump under the tank, the surge tank and 044 are mounted in the boot just in frront of the fuel tank.

Hi
Im at the side of the road using my work data terminal, it just went funny, so I made the last post before it lost what I had just written.
The heatsoak on the dyno was incredible, the bulk head under fuel tank inside the car was almost too hot to touch.
I will get another dyno soon but I want to get all my isuues sorted first.
Nice to talk to you Seb, how did you get on with Kmac?

How do you like the e boost? I think they leave a lot to be desired in the user friendliness department.

Hi
I always have to read the instructions for the eBoost when I want to change a setting, then next time I go to use it I forget how to use it. That's
what 21 year olds are for.
Its good for bringing up peak boost and revs.

Geeze, a lot of heat is not good!
I spoke to Kevin, he seems to be keen to do it.
Just need to make sure it is what I want (money wise, it is a bit steep) and that it'll be compatible with a strut brace and so forth.
Thanks for the pointers with the camber though, may have a play with that before going the Kmac way!

Even the instructions were fairly hopeless and the tech support guys had no clue either!! I think I've got the hang of it now, but still don't like
it very much.
