Started looking over my new Vert, walked around to the front RH wheel and there it is, a very large pool of oily substance on the floor, checked the
brake fluid reservoir but it was chockers, not sure what it is but had to leave for an important appointment, called the fella I bought it off to ask
if he had a clue as to what it could be, no, but he offered to come around to help me investigate. Tonight I opened the bonnet and took out the large
tool bag that was in there then the carpet mat covering the spare wheel, there in the top of the spare is a nice pool of oil. Discovered an empty
plastic one litre of oil in the tool bag, seems it was once full. Alls well that ends well.

I'm starting to get over doing things to my vw every day without feeling like it's progressing toward something I can drive.
Today I was going to paint the passenger floor but once the carpet was out it revealed more r_st than I was happy to see. I spent the day bringing it
back to metal.
The plan is to be driving by summer; which gives me 30 odd days that I have the opportunity to work on it. Still lots to do...

Apart from driving it, I made a hubcap puller, took off one of the hubcaps, and gave it a darn good scrub! The inside chrome is pitted? Maybe rusty?
So I applied a coat of rust converter to see that happens. Polished the outside with metal polish to see how good the chrome finish still is. Not too
bad. Two small dents that I'll need to remove. I'll do the others after I've got this first one sorted.

Fixed the dicky starter switch, also have now worked out that it should have only taken about one hour instead of eight hours.

Broke the front nose cone mount on the old 1200 transmission..... So got to pull the engine and transmission again. Repair and brace it all.....
Going to go the whole nine yards and do a removable rear apron (so I can swap between my two engines easily), kafer bar and transmissions straps...

G'day phat bug. I can't believe some people on a vw forum would criticise a paint job vw's of all shapes are an open canvas for us to put our own
mark on. just take it with the thought that only 1 person doesn't like it. I copped a bagging years ago for running 180b motors in my kombies &
baja now it ok to run a subie love the design

About to get started applying an under coat... then my sister calls and needs me to install a pilates wall at her studio. What is it with family?!
they know I own a VW and therefore will be required to constantly be working on it.
Screwed up one of the welding jobs...
This is the hole left after cutting away rust; after many hours fabricating metal, tacking, welding, and painting; I went to fit the rear panel only
to discover I had added 5mm to a mounting point. Wouldn't be so bad except it's right at the jack support and nearly impossible to cut.
Tuned Type IV power - shaking out the rust.
