Manley severe duty valves, ti retainers, OTEVA 75 dual valve springs and bronze guides.
The port is also blended into the valve seat, I will also point out that those heads are extremely good out of the box so be careful with modifications, they are not like the american heads wich you have to modify almost everything. The Pauters will fit right on.

Does that make anyone else aroused?

I think something has moved "down there"!

I would still check spring travels
and have a look at the port with the valve removed. (for future "material" when you are alone and lonely).

You may want a bit more inlet spring tension.

I have seen plent of pics of those ports and yes,
nothing to do in there.

Definitely don't polish the inlet ports...as cast gives better turbulence and "tumble".

Ok guys, finally an update. I'd been working on radiator mounts for a few weeks but between running out of materials and getting interrupted it was hard to make any good progress. But the long weekend sure helped.

Ive made recessed mounts for the radiators and thermo fans into the floor as you can see. The fans are setup to pull air up, and there will be an alloy sheet metal scoop fitted that goes over both radiators and forward a bit so that the radiator doesnt re-circulate hot air when the car is running when stationary. They were originally going to be used for the watercooling of the heads, but now they are for the water-air intercooler(s) the engine will be using.

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/Radiators/DSC01684.JPG

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/Radiators/DSC01689.JPG

Where the wires are hanging out is where the water hoses connect to the radiator, and also the air flows out. The exhaust slot is about 3" x 10".

The outer plate edge of the chassis had to be strengthened to support the roll cage so thats heavy 6mm plate, but is only about 400mm long. The inner plate material and mounting points are all 3mm and everything else is 1.6mm sheet.

If only I'd known I was going to make these before assembling the car, putting the body on the pan etc... It would have been a lot easier to make. I dont like welding and painting next to the car with the paint finished like it is.
http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/Radiators/DSC01686.JPG

Next on the list is a windscreen and the engine. I received an email from JP Motorsport again today and will be ordering a pair of heads tomorrow from the looks of it.

Cheers,
Ian

Out of the blue yesterday I received a phone call from Johannes at JP Motorsport in Sweeden. How about that for good customer service and being proactive. DRD should take a lesson from this.

So the last of the details are now ironed out, and I paid for my heads today. They should be here in Australia in 3 weeks!

Hi Guys,

I received an email today from Johannes at JP Motorsport with a picture of my heads as removed from the milling machine.

From the looks of them they just need porting, seats, and guides. He is working on them now, and they will ship before the end of the day (sweedish time) aparently. So with any luck i'll be completing the assembly of my engine inside 2 weeks! Woo Hoo!

I only meant to blend in the valve seats so there isnt a step from the port to the seat. I suppose the need for that would be determiend by how accurate their initial machining is. If they are built like a Koenigsegg they wont need it, and will do just fine.

Well it gets better!

On the 25/04/2009 DRD promised to give me a refund of my deposit minus a 25% re-stocking fee. I reluctantly agreed to this, but over a month later still no refund arrived. Fortunatly I had made the deposit with a credit card, so I raised a dispute with my bank for failure to deliver goods and then failure to return a refund.

Just checked my bank account this morning and the bank has ruled in my favour and refunded me the whole amount of my initial deposit!

I also just got an email from Johannes as well. My heads are finished and will be shipped this morning. How great a start to the day is this!

Cheers,
Ian

That is awesome news Ian.

That lack of of response, even with a simple money refund, shows he was always a dishonest character.
That sort of thing really gets my gander up.
Even if it was just that restocking fee,
I would still want to find the plane fare and be taking it out of his hide within the 24 hours.

Wouldn't the world be great if it was as simple as:
-ring the guy
-pay the money(lots or little)
-Parts arrive in fair time
-being kept informed of any delays
-or told from the start"sorry I am too busy have all your money back",

But looks like your cool head has payed off and it has all worked out even better.

I think you will find most guys dont mind paying top dollar for quality ,
but when you have to pay for BS and lies that is just not on.
That is one of the reasons I very rarely have anyone do anything for me, even if I have to learn myself.

I understand people get busy and problems arise,
but I think most times people have a problem with vendors, a quick call is all that is needed.
...and PAYING customers always come before race cars. (but not at the neglect of family and health).

Enought of me on m soap box!
Cant wait to see them Ian!

you are WAY better off with the jpm heads, the drd heads would have been a massive disappointment, just like his service.

Yeah i totally agree. I can just imagine what would have happened had i waited for the DRD heads. They would have leaked, and required re-machining as they would have no doubt been warped. So glad I dont have to experience that!

Here's another pic from Johannes. These are the valve springs, support shims and titanium retainers that are on the heads. Seat pressure is 160-170lbs with this setup as they are on the heads right now.

Update time at last...

The a weeknd or two ago I fitted up the last of the trim and interior parts (except the seats). Windscreen wipers, windows all in etc... I want to put some soundproofing on the floor before I go bolting seats into the car though. I still havent decided on the mirrors too. I have a pair of ones that are painted to match the car, but im thinking i might just switch to a single carbon fiber mirror. Plenty of time to decided on that...

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/Reassembly/DSC01750.JPG

Had a slow start to the day today but I now have a set of barrels rough cut to length too. Ive setup for a 0 deck height. The piston shown is a custom order CP piston, 22mm pin, low compression height and 36cc dish. Its also had the skirts teflon coated and the crowns ceramic coated and polished. Tomorrows plan is to finish barrel machining and probably piston ring filing to set the ring gaps.

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/oxy/DSC01751.JPG

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/oxy/DSC01746.JPG

Heads arrive next week so I want to be ready to bolt them on and get stuck into header and intake manifold fabrication.

Hi all,

Had a moderatly productive day today. Finished machining the cylinders to length, gapped the rings and fitted the rings on the pistons. Im now ready for the heads to arrive next week.

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/oxy/DSC01752.JPG

Check out the compression height of these. Because of the massive stroke and 5.7" rods in this engine I wanted to keep it as narrow as possible. Then of course I cut the back end off the car so it doesnt really matter now...

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/oxy/DSC01753.JPG

http://users.on.net/~iswinkels/Hosted/oxy/DSC01754.JPG

Tomorrow i'll be finishing the dry sump pump mount and making a plug to block off the distributor hole. Then hopefully the heads will arrive next week.

Cheers,
Ian
