Thanks for that Bizarre,
Just wanted some clarification that's all!

Appreciate everyone's help, just glad I got her running-ish, now I just need to get them tuned and all the other bits installed properly and then we're done :D

iCT's are a model of webers. Empi's are a whole different kettle of fish. I am guessing you are not familiar with their "quality".

Hopefully your carb guy is familiar with them as I don't think they are all that common, especially outside of vw circles.

I got the carbs cheap, and I already have an EMPI branded exhaust and for my current setup all I need is 34's, just to get her up and running.

I am well aware of EMPI quality "issues" but have yet to fall witness to it myself personally, touch wood. Once the carbs are tuned I'll be happy, I'm sure they will know what they're doing as a mate of mine went there with an old TA22 Celica and he knew his way around easily. I'm sure he will be fine with some EMPI 34's, but will check with him first.

Just need to get her running as she's my daily and it's kinda annoying borrowing the misses car or her Mum's car to get to work.

Haha I had a TA22 celica ages ago with 2TG and twin solex carbs ages ago. Same mate who painted that will be doing my bug soon.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's exactly the same car as my mates!
So the guy who did his carbs will be doing mine, well, the same place anyway.

Will take Zelda there probably Monday night. Have to block off the preheats on the exhaust first and then I can take her there. Don't want her spewing fire into the engine bay that's all, she did twice and it is definitely a nerve racking experience...

Anyway, will take some cool photos tomorrow hopefully. Need to get my heater hoses installed from the fan shroud to the boxes until I get the J Tubes. Hopefully my distributor without a vacuum advance arrives tomorrow too, that would be awesome. Albeit I'll have to re-time her or just be exact in the way I put it in (the same position as the current one).

Will update tomorrow.

Have contacted Richard at V-Force about the adjustable front struts.
Hot damn, the price tag for those is definitely in the high region.

But, money aside, I have replied to his email with another question, wondering if a 7.5" wheel would fit with them in the front fenders...
Wonder if anyone on here would know anything? Or am I going to have to purchase a 2" wider set of front fenders (which I really don't want to do at all)?

Have got the information back from the wheel supplier too, looks like they won't do a 6" wide front wheel like I thought they'd be able to do.
But they can still do my 8" wide rear wheels which is all good. Have approached them with an offset of 35mm, I'm pretty sure that should be plenty to get the look I want.

Zelda is off to meet Peter DeBiasi on Tuesday.
I figured it best get tuned by someone that knows what they're doing.

Let's just hope she comes back home running great, that is my main concern. If I can get her home running perfectly and be able to drive her next weekend, then I know I'll be cruising in Zelda to work Monday week. That, that excites me!

I'm looking forward to getting the new front struts too, she'll be a lot lower at the front which is exciting. Then, just need to notch her down a couple of splines and boom, she'll have perfect static stance... Only issue is I won't be able to get into the work car park without scraping off the exhaust. Might be time to start investing in new exhausts!

Anyway, will report back when I get Zelda back from Peter, will probably make another YouTube video and see how she goes, very excited indeed!

Trailer from mine to his and then he is going to tune her up.

Excitedness.

Thanks Dylan!
Yeah, the twin carb setup should be pretty good once she's going properly, but until then she's just sitting doing nothing, which is kinda sad.
A set of Kadrons would be awesome, but not something I'd put on a stock 1600tp. Maybe something I'd put on a 1836 or 1916, but not a stock 1600...

As for exhaust, I think the one that I have on at the moment will stay. I'll stock up on them though (might order another couple) just in case I start going through them scraping everything everywhere with how low Zelda will be in the coming month.

I have a friend in Rocky that is running a set of 40mm Kadrons on a stock 1600 twinport in his Superbug, it loves them. Goes really well.

Maybe one day, but first thing is first, just need to get her running again.

Then I can work on her stance and what not and then we'll be all good.
Just have to make sure she drives great and not the way she does too.

Tuesday can't come soon enough.

Stance is being put on hold for a bit.
Change of mind with what sort of setup I'm going with, will surprise everyone that is for sure.

Instead, something even better will be happening.

Zelda will be getting a little bit of a front end remodel and something else too.

Altitude drop will be coming, but I'm focusing on getting the body where I want it and all that, then focusing on the drop stuff.

You'll see.

I care if she looks good. I want her to look awesome, to turn heads, then when she drops, people will drool.
I've got a lot of planning to do; a lot of custom stuff.

She'll be a Euro looker. If anyone doesn't knows what I mean, check out StanceWorks or the common MKIV Golf or something running some very nice rims...

Zelda will be a head turner that's for sure.
My front end will go to something similar to Joel's, the indicators in the bumper and so forth.
That is what is happening first before the body off the pan paint job.

When the body is off the pan for painting, I'll be tackling the new suspension upgrade. This will be something completely different to what most 1303's or 1302's for that matter run.

I've got a lot of custom stuff being made and some interior upgrades coming too. When Zelda gets back from Peter and the tuning is done on the engine, I'll be upgrading a bit of the interior just for fun, and then will come the body off respray with some extra body modifications done too (getting rid of the air vents on the bonnet) and filling in the holes properly (not filler).

I'll be doing a big order from JustKampersAustralia within the next month, and then she'll be off to spray.
Will be a bit of a difference before my birthday that's for sure...

Aha all good Dylan,
I was trying to keep it all a secret and surprise everyone but I got a little tired of keeping secrets.

Luckily, where I work I am very well looked after so I should be able to get all this done very soon.
I wanted flat black, but have decided against it (since seeing you do yours) and will be doing something more, metallic...

The suspension setup will be completely different to anything I've seen done to a 1303.

Seb,
Where do you work? Can i get a job there? haha (:
I only went flatt black cause it looks good for a cheap can job. I Have spend probly about $150- $200 all up on Paint and it is'nt that good, i left it looking a bit ruff body wise but its solid with no rust and its pretty straight now. I Wouldnt change the design of the suspension too much to something you never seen on a bug cause it might not handal good. unless ur an mechanical engineer i wouldnt change the design cause its a very good design, cars still come out with macpherson strut front end today. But if you do alot of different mods and ugrades to brakes, struts, balljoints, steering, bushes and more you can make it very modern such as coil over struts (that all the JDM Drift scene use) and porche or simmilar brake setup with big calipers nad drilled and slotted rotors and so on so forth.

Dylan,
I work as a Software Engineer for a company here in Adelaide. If you have skills in PHP, JQuery, Java, JavaScript, Objective-C or maybe even C++ (and lived in SA) then probably...
As for paint, I know that matte black always looks good from a can, but mine will be a full, body off respray in 2-pac. Not that expensive, but still a lot more than a can job that is for sure!
The suspension setup has been done on other bugs, just not 1303's or 1302's that have the MacPherson strut front end. I don't think many people have tried/attempted to do it, but I know that it is possible if you get some custom stuff done...

Smiley,
Not Swingaxle, there is no point (in my eyes) to go from IRS to swingaxle on a super...

I wish I could say more, but I really want to surprise people with what happens.
Zelda will be freshly painted in a 2-pac black by the time I am 18. Meaning I have exactly three months from today before my 18th to get it done.
She will look like a completely new car and I honestly think it'll be worth it. I might even invest not only in new front guards, but rear ones as well (from JustKampersAustralia) as I think doing all of that brand new would be a lot better than just re-using the ones currently on her. One of the fronts has a little bit of damage, but both have a fair amount of bog and rust going on. The rears are a little warped where the bumper brackets stick through and therefore the rubber seals don't actually fit. I'll put together a shopping cart on JustKampersAustralia and see how much everything will come too.

Zelda is getting picked up tomorrow morning which is really exciting to be honest. Can't wait to be able to drive her again, should be able to do a couple of photoshoots with mates as well which will be damn exciting.

Have you priced up a body-off respray yet?..factor in 6-10k for a respray and thats nit including rust repairs, seals, POR15 or KBS'ing the pan, replacement parts....Just had my beetle bonnet bare metalled, resprayed in 2pak (show quality)..that alone cost me $1000..mainly due to labour to flip up a single ply bonnet and get it killer on the underside aswell as the outside. 2 Pak is something you dont want to do half-arsed due to the expense of materials..so save up and do her properly..it aint gonna be cheap!!!.
