I got a bit more done today.
The slider for 1st and second needed narrowing front and rear to account for the wider gears.
Also the gear tip needed to be chamfered at 10 degrees to clear the mainshaft.

I then did a trial assembly with no sealants to make sure everything cleared,
and shifted correctly.
It was then time to strip it all down for fial wash and lubrication.
You can never have too much lubrication.
This is the pinion half assembled.
Main shaft assenbled:
I used a hardened key within the 3/4 hub,
and loctite as well.
I then carefully fitted it to the intermediate housing,
making sure my 'pablo' shims were properly seated,
and then fitted the piion and mainshaft bearings to the housing last.
Here it is in the jig
to set the fork positions.

Here is the diff area assembled.
And the flanges sealed and bolted tight:
I have used the 15mm hex sized nuts everywhere to help tie everything together.
Just needs the nose cone fitted and some oil.
I was not happy wit the supplied Brazilian hockey stick,
so will duplicate the one that is currently fitted to the car.

Yes that is correct Mac.
Paul Guard(Pablo) was kind enough to share his experiece with me,
and even sent some stuff from the USA free of charge.
There are a lot f generous people in the world, and the best thing to do is share the knowlege.
As Joe Cocker says, "pass it on".
I could be a hand model for moisturiser.
I use a lot of moisturiser.
(that one I should have probably not "pass it on"). hehe.

"Just Pass it On" (sung by Joe Cocker)
(Daniel Moore)
You don't owe me, ha! I'll be hoping, ha!
I'll be praying, ha!
Toombo iso, ha! toombo iso, ha!
Toombo iso, ha!
You don't owe me, you don't owe me a solitary thing.
If I lend a hand it's 'cause I choose to.
You don't owe me.
(Just pass it on.) Pass it on, pass it on. (Pass it on.)
Help make the world go round. (Pass it on.)
Pass it on to who ever you need, they won't owe you.
Toombo iso, ha! toombo iso, ha!
I'll be hoping, I'll be hoping for the big one out of the blue,
When it comes I want it to come to you.
I'll be hoping.
(Just pass it on.) Pass it on, pass it on. (Pass it on.)
Hope makes the world go round. (Pass it on.)
Pass it on to who ever you need, they won't owe you.
Toombo iso, ha! toombo iso, ha!
I'll be praying, I'll be praying that the best will come your way.
And when it comes that's going to make my day.
I'll be praying.
(Just pass it on.) Pass it on, pass it on. (Pass it on.)
Hope makes the world go round. (Pass it on.)
Pass it on to who ever you need, they won't owe you.
You don't owe me, no you don't.
I'll be hoping, ha!
I'll be praying, ha!
Toombo iso, ha! toombo iso...

Well, another great result,
this time for VW Warwick 2008.
Gearbox performed very well ,and this has to be my favourite win.
Many thanks to everyone who helped and dropped by to say hello throughout the weekend.
Saturday I began safe rich in case the 15 thou flycut demanded extra fuel,
but from that point it as very consistent once I leaned it off:
7.207 (rich)
7.100 (leaner)
7.042 (perfect!)
7.072
7.042
Sunday:
7.112 (wheel spin at start of 1st and 2nd)
7.072
7.070
7.064
7.124 Won the final of "Quick 8".
Thanks to Brad "westi", and his stand-in Rod Richardson for the competition in the final.
Rod you sly dog...try to burn ME down on the start line?!!

Wow!
Thanks 11CAB
Aweome vids.
I could not watch the quicktime ones so this is great.
Thanks for the effort!
That run against pete was my lucky one.
I cut a shocker light(.550), but the car was on song.(7.07 on a 7.04 DI)
Had pete not broken out by 0.05 seconds I would have been on the trailer.
No probs pete with the engine, shame you lost a couple of qualifyers because of that seal.
Hows the pushrod tubes going?

You ran 7.072 twice, 7.042 twice and 3 of the 4 competitive rounds were within 6 one thousandth of a second. That's amazing, not to mention quick.
It's doing my head in.
Those 60 ft times are all over the place. At least 3 one hundredth of a second over the 2 days!
Now tell me you go full steam ahead on every run and not that you back off when you know you've got the win.
Nice work.

I go full steam ahead on every run.
And no, I don't back off even if I know I have the win.
Well, some times I back off.
But not at Warwick, it is all about the fun.

More Engine Porn
When I saw the US dollar getting worse, I got on the phone and ordered my rockers.
Roger Crawford, from Headsup Performance in the USA was very helpfull and kindly used US post to send them.
Luckilly I got them at the dollar around 84 c woo hoo!
They are 1.7 rocker ratio,
and bolt down to the flat surface in the head,
with eight 5/16UNC socket head cap screws,
and four dowels :
There is a different cylinder head and rocker set-up for left and right.
This design is to keep the pushrod angle as straight as possible.
Thus, the opposite side has a large offset.

Being extra deep do you have any concerns about oil hanging in the covers and not returning to the sump quick enough.
With roundy roundy racing I have had to address this issue because the oil was being kept up in the cover especially in long fast corners.
Yes they do look horny those rockers.

Hi Colin,
I actually restrict the oil within the pushrods so not as much gets up there.
If I have to, I will add drains, or an extra stage oil pump to return the excess oil.
The designers actually recommend an extra oil spray bar for the springs,
so I may have to upgrade the oil pump.
