Nice work dude, good to see the buggy has found a good home.
Keep up the good work.
See you at the showdown!

Cheers Dave!

Snuck the buggy onto the dyno this morning just to get a baseline run for comparison after we hot the motor up a little bit after the VW Sydney meet. As a bonus I got an extra 10 RWHP to play with next meeting just from pulling some timing out! Add 1000rpm to the numbers on that sheet for what the engine was actually pulling.

Been tinkering a bit more with the Buggy. Worked out the gear ratios so I could get accurate numbers off that dyno graph, peak power is about 6600 rpm. I've got the two step working properly now and setup on a dial which I can adjust from inside the car. Once we have a working launch rpm I can just unplug the adjustable chip and put a regular one back in so it doesn't get bumped etc.
The cooling system has been changed over to a regular type one setup and another breather line added on the case. Also rewired the o2/rpm logger setup so it doesn't lose the log if you forget to stop recording before switching the ignition off, which has happened every run so far where I didn't forget to start logging....

Rebuilt the rear brakes as well, a blown wheel cylinder had leaked all over the shoes and left me with a one wheel braking system, still stopped ok, just a bit spongy on the lever

If everything works out on the day I'm pretty confident of going 12.0x and maybe even an 11.9, then the engines getting pulled and hotted up a bit for warwick. :ninja:

We decided to pull the buggy motor apart for a quick health check before the next meeting. It was running fine but has been together for quite a few years in various cars before the buggy so was due for a checkup.

While it was apart we decided we may as well get a bit more power out of the old girl as well.

Everything looked like new inside apart from some minor cam thrust wear so we replaced them and put the bottom end back together as it was.

The top end changes are a bit more interesting.

Previously we only had 8.2:1 compression mainly due to a really trick set of Fred Simpson ported heads with massive chambers for turbo use. We didn't feel like flycutting a nice set of heads that much so after rummaging through the shed we settled on some old ARPM heads, ported with matching IDA manifolds. The smaller chambers on these will push us up to 10.8:1 and which will hopefully wake the motor up but still be pump fuel friendly (Cheep!!). Had a few issues with rocker clearance but some thicker lash caps sorted that (thanks dave).

These heads should make some decent power, four digit flow figure. :D

So with more comp, better heads, IDA's and probably a bigger exhaust I'm hoping for a decent drop in times, 11.80's is realistic I think. We'll put it on the dyno next week before hopefully running the test n tune in a fortnight.
