All For It a class of our own, but will stil run in a Super Sedan class also at certain meet's. Dave and I have had alot of good memories over the year's in this class.

ie : picking off some competitor's in the morning racing, only to see them come down to our pit at lunch time and relies that yes the engine is in the back n yes it has 4 less piston's than theirs.

Now... what was I doing again

This is a great idea, it will show other drag races that we are serious and our numbers will prove it. We will be a force the be recond with. And if you don't think this not a good idea then well your a wanker and in my opinion shouldn't be involved in VW drag racing.

I can't wait to see all the teams and individuals turn up to these meets, imagine 20 -30 VW's, we would dominate just with our presence, and then take over the world (OK to far).

IT WOULD BE AWESOME

I'll assume that was directed at me....

All I said was get the numbers to fill a class first, at a few meetings to show it's genuinely viable. That's pretty reasonable. Hopefully that happens.

As an aside, can Andra teched and logbooked cars run alongside those without, ie the street cars? Might be a sensible question to ask the track. Could be an insurance issue, dunno.

Also whats the spread of dial ins they will allow in one class, 9 sec to how slow? (hopefully 8's!!). Again they may be cool with a big spread but it's worth asking.

Mike asked to keep this constructive, calling people wankers and kicking them out of VW drag racing? Grow up.

Well I'm the only one here who has raised questions about this idea. Fair assumption?
Regardless who it was directed at it's not constructive.

You might want to apologise to everyone else on here though.

good idea if you get the numbers.
But we will take our chances and race with the rest of the drag racers. We don't want to be in a special class as we don't run a fast car.

For the people entering the 13th an email was sent with the below statement from Ray.

Well after being stuffed around by experts over the last few days we still do not have the upgrade completed on the payment gateway so this is what needs to happen.

Go ahead and enter online http://www.sydneydragway.com.au/?m=content&id=25  as normal, once you click the PAY NOW button it will go to a blank error screen. Simply close that window down and we will contact you by phone to do the payment and confirm your entry manually.

It’s a huge pain in the butt for us all and we apologise for any inconvenience to yourselves but once it is up and running again it will be worth it J

If you have any queries please email christine@sydneydragway.com.au or call 9421 0700 during office hours.

Once again thank you all for your patience and understanding…

Take care

Ray Treasure

Venue and Events Manager

I hope the above link from Ray helps those who do not receive an email to understand how to enter if they are planing on.

Just to make things perfectly clear when I posted this post on here I never said that this meeting at WSID has a VW bracket or did I ask for one. I asked for constructive criticism on the topic / thoughts about the pro's and cons of such a bracket in the WSID series.

Having a bracket does not mean that you are no longer a super sedan or super street or even street vehicle as that is what Andra decides when they look at your vehicle for racing scrutinizing.

There will be a number of things that would need to be discussed with the track as touched on in the the above posts. It is that feed that allows and I guess decides whether or not it is worth looking at in the future along with getting the numbers to participate.

Thank you everyone for the input so far. It appears that there is quiet a bit of interest in a VW bracket in the WSID track championships. The next event Round 5 will be a good tester and hopefully start things happening if they were meant too.

Regards

Mike

Entry has been submitted for both Chris Bolton & myself . Chris will run in the Super Sedan class for this meeting and I will run the dragster in the Modified Andra class 0-10.99sec .
If the VW class goes ahead , we are all excited at WPVW to contest that class . I can only see good things for VW drag racing if this goes ahead :tu::tu:

Ian please don't forget , this will be a bracket racing class and even the slowest car can win over much quicker cars . You wont neccessarily get embarrassed by getting beaten by Rose mate :lol::lol:

This drag racing looks like a lot of fun. What would No.8 Beetle need? One of Rod's parachutes? Do I need womens' clothes?

Greg, I don't think you would need a chute yet, but I find a well lubricated right hand helps immensely. For lightning fast shifts of course....

Peace out peeps!

Well , I have reluctantly entered for this weekend . I am still in the testing stage with my car and did not want to enter this event as I don't want to take up any unnecessary time and don't want to disrupt the proceedings . I was waiting for the next test day in 3 weeks time and I figured that if this day is a non event it would be another 5 weeks after this before I can run the car again . I do not want to take this chance so I will run the car this weekend and use it for obtaining some data so I can get a chance to test some new tricks on the 3rd of August at the test day . I will need some help on the day if anyone is free , thanks , ROD.
