Buy the retro series plates and see if you can find what the original was and have it re-issued. Much cheaper, not as tacky and you get to choose your own letters and numbers as long as the first in an X or a U.

My forester has [XOF-420]

You could have [UUV-073] or something similar.

but no one buys plates when for sale.

I know a guy who has real plates with 01HDT, 01BROK, 06HSV
HDT-105.

Some awesome plates there, but I never seen them sell, still for sale.

I have seen some plates you would think would sell in a heart beat but still always relisted on ebay years latter.

I have never ever personally seen plates actually sell, unless practically giving them away. 50 bucks etc..

Maybe only really interesting or car specific plates sell, in a time long long ago I knew a fella who had .....GT351.... plates, he had them on an early MG :spin:, he was offered heaps for them but wouldn't part with them, don't know if he ever did but there was plenty of people offering the big $ at the time.

When I was younger in Sydney a very quick and modified for he time RX2 had the plates PIG B8 just to stir the police.

There are some very Whitty plates out there

I have had CAL 14U and KGH 11A

I was given the plates ADS 41Q but refused them looked like Aids for one queer

When I registered my 1958 Beetle here in QLD they issued me the club rego plates S 19508 incredible! The guy at he registry office did not even make the link.

Cheers
