HI barls , if you care to read the post fully you will see the person concerned has already named himself without anybody else committing that crime. could not help justifying his actions.

I find it leaves a very sour taste in my mouth he has taken advantage of many long standing enthusiasts. ...taking a crap on your own doorstep doesn't stand you in very good stead now alot of other people who have had dealings are now exchanging experiences. ....embarrassed/ashamed are just 2 things you should be...

As previously said by vwo60 – as Scot (scot70wagon) has responded to the post, without anyone naming him, he has given up his right to anonymity.

The VW fraternity is a relatively small community with many of good people sharing the same love for VW’s, most of who would go to great lengths to help out a fellow veedubber for no monetary gain.

Therefore it’s really disappointing to see a longstanding member of the vw community blatantly ripping off his fellow members. This is not a one off mistake, as vwo60 has been contacted by at least 5 other veedubbers with similar stories of dealing with Scot and including Boomerdog, that’s 7 we know of.

This is a very sad indictment of this individual’s character – as the saying goes “Don’t Shit where you Eat”.
Not all of us are flush with cash – So come Scott – man up and do the right thing - return Boomerdog’s money (I’m sure he’ll happily return the engine and parts).

Try and restore some of your cred.

Boomerdog – shame you can’t reinstate your initial post you deleted.
(I hope this post isn’t deleted or edited – people need to know)

#Ok so this was the original post from a while ago so everyone can see..i will post pics later of the bottom end…#, the seller did refund me $450 for new pistons & barrels after the initial post, but am still out of pocket $1050...anyone want a free boat anchor? ...the block is well thrashed...& needs a complete line bore/cam/oil pump/bearings etc etc..this was a stock motor with 1641 barrels..not as advertised as an 1835 with 110 cam etc...
so here it is...

After buying an engine advertised as an 1835cc which apparently' had proved itself' from s.........n last December for my 54' oval, I finally got round to starting the build on it, the engine has been sitting since that time in a dry garage under a cover due to finances being tight due to my partner falling victim to breast cancer, its been a long tough battle so have been doing it tough, this was an engine I thought I could finally afford.....

after bolting the engine up in the car I put on the new front pulley & revolved the engine on the pulley nut, things did not sound right at all.
so unbolted the engine & investigated further...
I dropped the heads off to my amazement I had lumps of metal fall out of no1 cylinder with sludge etc..the head was pitted to shithouse due to the debris that had been flying around in there.
all the other cylinders were shot, scoring, blueing ,the rings had gone on one of the cylinders ,as it was pulling oil from the block & you can see the clean burn of the oil on top of the piston...
receipts for the engine which was 'promised' to me never appeared.
the seller now really just dosn't want to know, I'm left with an engine that is shot from the start this just sucks that a fellow vw enthusiast does this to another.
I've been involved with vee dubs since 1984 & I can honestly say this is the worst I have seen
I have asked for my money back..no dice, apparently he has been trying to source pistons from his mates..what is stopping him from doing the right thing & either giving me my money back or at least offering to buy me a new top end..??
completely gutted....wrong on all levels ..talk about being taken for a ride..
see what you guys make of the pics..

Do you have the initial advertisement and proof that it was adtvertised falsely?

While bashing someone on a forum is all well and good, youre not going to achieve the outcome you want.

My advice is take old mate to small claims court, get all of your money back, and charge him the additional costs of investigation with the engine builder and the like.

Just my 2c, might achieve abit more and put the wind up him.

Yes. Small claims would be your best avenue. Easy filing of claims up to $5000. Once you get a ruling ( should be easy as all the evidence is on this forum) He either pays you or you file a registered debt against him and it turns his credit rating to mud. My2c

I THINK ITS TIME FOR THE NAME BASHING TO CEASE. anything i have sold is sold the way i buy it, as is with no warranties implied or given as is the way with second hand goods. Boomerdog and vw060 you werent happy with the deal you entered into under these terms and asked for compensation. BOTH of you have been given money back and thats the end of it. Engines bought if they are ok they get sold on.With any vw engine it is impossible to check the size of the engine so you rely on the person who you bought it off to get the details of what it is or isnt.i sell them as i buy them, listing is as told to me. I have not shyed away and tried to hide as implied and have named myself when i didn,t have to so for manning up and restoring my cred for all the supposed horror stories that are out there there are a shit load more people i have gone over and above to help within the vw community. Everyone has an opinion and they have the right to exercise that opinion , but the name calling needs to cease NOW.

Check out the state of the 43000 KLM engine you sold me as needed no work just fit into your car, is that how the engine was treated before you sold it to me, I do not think it has had an oil change for years, it is not about name bashing it is about letting people know who to avoid. particial refund or not , it is the process and the miss leading description of the engine and the five months you took to send it to truck yard that was a 3 hour drive from my home and dumping it there, the refunding of money without my consent for parts that I already owned, have a good look at how you have behaved in these matters, and all I did was to trust you with $2500 for an engine that is immaculate other wise I would not have consider paying that much for a type three engine, an apology to all concerned from you would go a long way towards making this go away, as for sending the engine back to you and then you refunding the balance, I do not think I would take that chance.
