Hey Andy,
Im back from NZ now so that bike ride to the kombi track can be a go.
My $0.02c worth on your leak.
I would not use a tapered threaded plug as the pressure of the taper spreading the hole would spread the cases and make your leak worse.
If you dont want to split the case and are happy with the cam bearings (personally, I think if the thruse was that worn you would have other signs of
wear in the engine like rods, big ends etc) I would go with the knead it option. I keep hearing of JB weld but have never seen it but the BMW lists
talk of it as a fix all for fixing threads, leaks, holey cases etc.
If it works you have saved yourself 5 years of rebuilding in your rare spare time. If it doesnt work, looks like you are going to have to split that
puppy.
Me? well, I would go the goop first, and do the RMS then reassess once it is running.

Thanks kkk, that's the option I will take. As the motor appears new otherwise I'm happier to see how it goes before stripping.
As for the ride, will tee it up some time soon!!
Maybe we should have Wes try to follow us in the Baja. See just how good he is hehehe.

At least the pic of the V6 was to show big grub screws which was relevent to the original post. You trying to hijack the thread and turn it into a
Buggy's rule post is just uncalled for :P
