Thanks Andrew, I am part of the 356 registry already and asked the Q couple of times but didn't get an answer. I got mine totally dismantled too. Doesn't make it easy putting it together because no idea where things go but I am getting there. Doing the wiring right now which is not as difficult as I thought.

I am hearing you, at least when I restored my Beetle I stripped it. But that was still a bit challenging.

With respect to the motor, the book I mentioned in a previous post is a comprehensive resource. It discusses all facets of enhancing 356 performance not just engine mods.

Raf,

There appears to be tar board all around the engine bay on my A. I would suspect that Herr Doctor would have tried to supress as much sound as he could. I'll get some pics when I next go to see my A. Also you should now have my U2U
