Yeah OK that will work i was think the other way for some reason.... but no harm measuring forward

Make sure it dont look too odd by being either back or forward out of position...

I saw a mustang once that the guy put a roof in and he had it way to forward..
if you can sit your seats in the car as well maybe that might give another idea.

Keep up the good work

It's got to go in exactly the right position for the curve in the roof to line up.Will probably get some distortion when they make a new lip around the opening, but they are good at their job so should be able to get it right

Update

Trailered it to Adelaide last Monday for it's swim and had to take the NB down today for it's first service,so called in to check on my baby-it's now bare metal and not one piece of rust to be found and only one small bit of bog on LHR 1/4 panel covering a small dent-about 50mm by 80mm.Bloke reckons he's done dozens of Beetles and this is the cleanest one he has ever seen.Turned out to be a good buy.Forgot to take a camera.

Hi NB,

You've come along way with you oval now, it's really starting to take shape.
Lucky man you are with that sunroof. I've been looking for years...extremely difficult to get a hold of.

cheers

G'day Dino

You are right-but a long way to go yet.Have just finished for the night-machined up some injector pockets from 19mm round bar and have trial fitted one into a modified Type4 fuel injected manifold.Have cut of the original pipes off flush with the cast end that bolts to the head and drilled into the side of it to mount the injector boss-looks like it will work ok.Can weld some pipes back into the cast end to still end up with a centre throttle body. This looks like no cutting of the engine bay. Will take pics

NB, if you have the fuel injected manifold, don't these have the injector bosses already incorporated into it, unless there is something I'm missing??? or are you using a different type of injector......

You are correct-but those holes are too small and in the wrong spot-injectors hit hard on the body.I can plug them and fit the bosses higher up so everything clears the body The fuel rails I made were the biggest headache, but I can now use fuel hose onto the injectors,so allows flexibility with the rails.I have found a real small pressure reg.from a Toyota with the right value-also much better for room issues.Have to machine up a small boss and weld it directly into the end of my rail.

Goes into the bottom of the original tank-will have about 50mm hanging from the bottom.Have drilled holes in it that will be 110 mm from the bottom of the tank and facing the front of the car-should keep fuel in it under acceleration when tank gets low.Can have 10mm supply pipe and will use 8mm for return.

Yes it is good to see some progress.Have put guards and bumpers and all lights back on for Motor Show this weekend. It is in grey 2pack primer now with one yellow guard.Booked in for mid March to get sunroof fitted and the full paint job.Have just had new laminated front screen cut and all side windows being made new with a bronze tint in the glass. Will get that stick on window tint put on the Oval. All 1/4 window frames and pivots being rechromed. Looking for completion by Xmas this year.

The VC sounds like a real beast-is it a street car?The Oval goes in mid March. Two full resprays B4 mine. They are still trying to get their head around fitting the sunroof and how best to attack it.

Still on the go

Things have slowed up a bit-need all the spare cash for a deposit on an investment property and the painters are up to their xxts in work any how. Finally got my laser cut engine lid badge back and will now tidy it up and send it away with the Deluxe one to get coated in 24c gold like the others.
