Craig, who is Rudy and what car does he drive?
HP, big vs little. It's all relative to the car that it's in. What sort of racing you do, how the power is put down, etc...

ANYWAY...........at the end of the day, if there are hot vw's on the track kiking butt then it's all good.
I'm sure that Craig, CT, Paul, John L, Rudy, the Hozlz' & myself are all doing it for the fun factor & because we love vw's.
Whether we are in a genuine competition like the group 7 series or with the Porsche club or wth Mini club, who cares?
I have a ball with the Porsche club & don't mind paying the extra $50 for triple the amount of track time that I will get everywhere else,
trained instructors that can drive in the car with me that I would normally pay hundreds of dollars for, & did I forget to mention that I get to
be surrounded by exotic machinery all day.
Its the way that I get my kiks, the smile at the end of the day & the drive home from the track says it all.I beleive that u were sincere Retro
when u aksed us along, but as said before, been there done that.
People laughed at me when I said that I was going to join the Porsche club, now 4 years later there will be 8 of us with beetles having a go, &
having a go is what it's all about , isn't it:thumb
regards
Jak
PS after all this, we still havn't heard what Retro's times are on the track.
Congratulations to Ben Durie for breaking the hillclimb record at Ringwood in his stroker beetle!

Well said Jak:thumb
I think your car is the only true daily driver currently running on the track. Its probably more than full weight, has all the interior plus some
extra's, and has a relatively standard exterior.
My car WAS honestly registered and I used it weekly, but I wouldn't have called it a daily driver, it is a budget club race car.
Richards car may have been registered, but it too should not be called a daily driver. Like Alex said, it was a race car with rego. I loved watching
this car race and always admired it at the VW shows, but it was certaintly built for Racing first. It had no back seat, no passenger seat, absolutely
minimal interior lining, gusseted and welded body shell, full cage, race seat, Air ducting from the floor up to the firewall, slicks, big brakes,
aeroguards, spoilers etc etc. And when I watched it race it was trailered! It was a very well prepared race car :thumb
Richard did very well with this car, and was heavily supported at the time by Vintage VW, but lets not try and con people into thinking it carried the
shopping, the kids, and was driven to the office
Jak, your car does that :thumb

Ummm NO. Horsepower is very important,so is the right torque range, car preperation and handling, and driver skill.
I would say horsepower is not the only thing :thumb
