Why don't you weigh what's left of the engine and put the equivalent weight in the back of the car to set the ride height? On the long block even?
Just a thought. It will take the guessing away. Looks FANTASTIC by the way!

That's not a bad idea. I'd have to add the windows, upholstery, battery etc. I might wait till there is more fitted up. Going to take some days off
work to get a roll on with it. My weekends seem to be taken up with Surfing and Kids sport.

Cool, or if you can't wait to fit them all, just weigh them all one at a time, and put concrete bags or whatever weights you want in the car at
around the right spot so you get the right cantilever effect (i.e. if you put the battery weight behind the rear axle it will weigh the car down more
than in its usual spot). One weight in the right spot for rear windows, battery, and back seat, probably placed around where the battery would go, and
a weight for gen, pulley etc...resting on top of the long block. I know I'd be hanging to see how the car "sat" if it was mine:thumb

I just looked at your post time. You gotta get some sleep or at least see your doctor about some sleeping pills!:thumb
Back to the bug. I'm pretty patient. I've been on this project since September 2002 and have missed every deadline I have set myself. (I originally
told my wife it would only take 3 - 4 months!)
I've going to install new axle rear seals before installing the rebuilt CVs, so I think I'll do the lot together.

I started the engine for the first time on Friday Night. I'm sure the neighbours enjoyed the sucking sound of two Dellortos to the sound of the
Olympics.
Besides a minor problem of the rear oil relief valve sticking (which we caught straight away by monitoring the guage) it went very well. Still running
rich but starts and idles now. I'll put some axles in it during the wek and may have a drive up and down the street on the weekend. I'll get some
pics and post an update.
It's a relief after building the engine last November. You know how it is, you start to second guess yourself after so long. "did I tighten that
bolt right, is that bearing in the right way, was that clearance correct...".

Mate very nice, shre is a credit to you , what are the wheel/tyre sizes and offsets, any major work to fit them?
I am contemplating 17 " cup wheels or similar in porshe stud pattern.

Mitchell,
The wheels are Lenso Concept 5s. 17"x 7" ET40. The car has 100mm shortened struts with 80mm 150 pound King Springs. There is about 10 - 15mm
clearance from the inside of the tyre to the spring. I also had to set the turn to turn steering lock limits.
