Oh C'mon $2.
In all fairness there are great examples of every year model floating around.
Wether they be show cars that look great and drive poorly,
or
A performance tuned machine that is a little weathered,
then there is,
the daily driver that goes around seamingly unnoticed but is always there to get you where you want to go and is good to look at, great to drive and always dependable.

ahh, I have noticed how dubs are not that different to pet dogs, they reflect thier owners characteristics, you can tell a lot about the person by looking at thier rides. No two are the same (unlike other breeds of cars!). Very expressive.

In my case: Bit shabby, doesn't like to bathe regularly, noisy, prone to wandering on open road, odd looking but used to the pointing and stares, often shouted at on street, finds herself striking up coversation with the oddest of people in car parks and servos, always ends up with an audience when doing roadside repairs, though hard work is all done now, finally a reliable, roadworthy ride (cept small brakes can make it hard to stop at times.....??)...weird looking bum though!:thumb am fully insured!

If I was in america I would plead the 5th amendment.

I'm OK, I can claim I read about it in a magazine or saw it on TV. A guy with the handle BUZZbug, is another matter.

Personally, I think the really sporty flashy ones are great to look at, and maybe good for a quick joyride, but I think the low maintenance cruisers are the ones to go for. Keep the expensive models as pictures on your locker door. Not saying you should settle for a rat look, but soewhere in between.

even my baby sister is too old for rhys. Besides she is way high maintenance. Spends way too much money on polish.

74 models and earlier will be considered, but should be mechanically sound and straight. running gear should be in top condition.

Sometimes, older models have been known to have stronger construction, and often have had a lot of sorting out due to longer road experience. You find the shock absorbers are often improved over standard, and that handling has either settled in or been addressed and tweaked having been exposed to the best and worst that only more K's will show up. Its impressive when you realise just how far they'll go... ;)
Of course this is no more apparent than amongst the true rat contingent. Under the ratty exterior you'll often find a really hot motor. Open them up with a little Optimax and these suckers go a lot harder than you might think. These babies come at a price that usually will not reflect their external condition, and casual scrutiny leads them to be discounted by most, until they're taken for a ride. And of course there's that added bonus of being able to take a rat out and park it in town and not worrying as much about anyone attempting to steal it :D Usually a rat has enough chrome to polish for an occasion but not enough to be overly showy.

Certainly better than the pretty but cheap resprayed models that constantly crave attention; you're always plagued by paint chips and hidden problems like poor steering and skittish handling under pressure. Often they go through a lot of tires before theyr'e really worn out. The only satisfaction here lies in passing them on to an unsuspecting thief or cruising around until the novelty wears off. It's not just like a good ol project car that you can chop some weight out of and tighten up the rear end to give a better ride height.

Go the rats :thumb:bounce;)

If you borrow you may get into trouble, or maybe even lose a friend.

Some say it is better to rent, then the deal is done.

Although having one of your own has it's advantages.

I suppose it is all up to the individual. Some do quite well just to go without.

rental is good, can return when broken and get new one,, is also tax deductable, downside is it's never really yours to keep, and you can get into trouble if you choose to modify or customise.

leasing with option to buy is good

Some prefer fleet rentals :bounce

A select few opt for commercial (usually find those parked outside seedy pubs late at night ):repuke

That reminds me of the three bulls standing around when a new huge bull comes to the farm.

Looking for a resonable 80 to 86 model (last 86 model broke down ). Available in brisbane, some maintance allowed but not excessive. Shiny bits a bonus, must have a resoanable thirst for fuel and make all the right noises when being driven hard. Must have only one seat and the ability to last longer term. Some quirkyness allowed.

well that about sorts it for me!!!!

looking for a 54 to 86 model, any condition. Just need it overnight.:P

Oh yeah, and about the 2 bulls... The young one says "Let's run down the hill and f**k a couple of cows", and the old one says, "No, lets walk down the hill and f**k ALL of the cows".
