and it is a good idea to have all the Radios on the One FM frequency and help the Public Address sound system..
and they don't have to be turned up that loud.....
Anyone have a Decibel meter???
Anyone who's car stereo goes over 70db will have it turned OFF... Simple...

who ever it was that had the herbie replica, i love the music that they had running all day.
You had to stick you head in the car to hear it as it was playing rather low, but the music was from the herbie movies, ie: the music they played
during the race.
It made me laugh and thought that it was a great touch.

Hi. Some years ago, the VW club had a day at Waverley Park, Melbourne.
It was a great day - plenty of VW's and no music.
Another year, another day, at Albert Park Lake - missed that one.
But the last one I tried to attend was at Monash University, Wellington Rd. Parked the Kombi and made my way through the carpark, looking at vehicles
and talking to other VW owners along the way. And all the time the # music was blaring, and the # bass was a'thumpin, LOUDLY. So I figured I don't
have to suffer this ##, and went home. Never again. One would think that an annual show day would be the ideal time to woo and sign up new members,
not to put people off.

lee, you can't put a complete ban on music. yeah i agree that there are people who go way too far with music, but sayiong no music disadvantages
tghose who aren't doing anything wrong. some people have got a nice car but pride it on the stereo as that ios what they like, and they should be
allowed to show it off. i am NOT saying that they should be allowed to blast it all day as that would annoy me, and i am interested in the stereos,
but they should be allowed to show it off. maybe someone needs to allocate a time where no announcements are made and people who like the whole music
thing can show what their sound system can do. people have suggested a side area, maybe that's an idea too that should be considered.
i hope i haven't offended you lee and if i have, i do sincerely apologise. that's just my point of view. i do respect what you are saying however

i've got no problem with music playing. I wouldnt go so far a scalling it a wank either cos I know there are plenty of people about who think
spending shitloads of money on a VW engine is a wank. So long as you cant hear it (let alone feel it) when you're away from that car, and its not
offensive language then who cares. Play as much nana maskouri, denis roussos, or rap crap as you like, just let it be possible for me to get away from
it. I dont think its an age issue either, its just a common decency thing. Westfield here plays loud Bing Crosby music to keep loitering teens away.
If it isnt your style of music/volume then its bloody annoying. To say that others are old, they can get stuffed is just wrong. And I'm sure that
when I was a teenager, old was definitely older than 33.

I had front seat in a Toyota Echo competition SPL car the other day. My, oh my; 155 dB (not with anyone in it of course!). With the stereo cranking
and the doors closed, with each bass beat the three 15" subs in the back together with the amps (where the passengers might otherwise be) caused the
air to woosh back and forth. At more moderate settings, the sound was excellent, with a very 'live' sort of presence to the music.
Outside the car, with the stereo cranked, various minor peripheral items such as number plates and wheels were shaking loose, and the windscreen and
surrounds flexing alarmingly. Impressive, to say the least.
I know this in no way advances (nor retards) the arguments about loud music at shows, but relevance is not one of my high points today.

all night raver
ok me and my partner are into vw,s and dance patries i have a big sound system that i am happy to cart to any vw show, and play at any level you like
my new retso will be ready soon and this will have deks and mixer in the front just pop the lid and play with 12 in mids tops and lows loaded onto the
roofracs. we have always thought that a night party at a cool outdoor location for all those young and young heart dubberrs would be grouse, in
winter maybe we can find a big warehouse were we can drive in set up and doof all night. Me and my mates will happily provide the tunes in all styles
all night. As an old skool raver i cant think of any better decor for my all night partying than a wharehouse full of groovers and the grooviest cars
of all, ywoodnya

Wow! You gals/guys are real sensitive about this one!
Just a few points:
Any "Dick measuring contest" is a contest essentially, for "Dick's"!
A narrowcast broadcasting licence for an event is really not too difficult to organise if I remember correctly. Ask at http://www.cbaa.org.au. I've done lots of radio stuff before, but I cant commit to
taking this on at future event's because of my young family. I know a couple of profi's who could organise it properly tho'. If anyone important in
the VW heirarchy wants their numbers, U2U me.
If everyone tuned to a frequency tailor made for the event, then you wouldn't have the "ego trippin' soundmess" that usually occurs when "boys"
feel the need to express who they are and how f*$kin' cool they think they are. You can also use everyone's sound system for announcements between
songs. Continuity is a GOOD thing.
When it comes to different tastes, keep the program pretty vintage and Family friendly for the day, and churn it up towards the evening for a real
young-un's party. Sound limits in the daytime are cool, and the boys can pull out their members in the dark for fun if they like.
That way all should be catered for. Does that sound like a plan?

for all the purists out there, soon I will have finished me 59 bus, subs amps and neons to boot with plents of bass. Not bad for an old guy that loves
rap and hip hop. Do you realise what work goes into sound systems so let them show them off, I for one love it

I didn't look at the amp specs; there were three of them and a single 2 farad capacitor feeding the three subs (plus a few 8" mids and such in the
back, splits in the front and I think there were a couple more underseat amps for the front speakers). As this was a competition SPL car, there were a
*lot* of watts; I'm reluctant to quote numbers because all the manufacturers quote their wattages using different loads and different total harmonic
distortion.
Bear in mind, though, that the Decibel scale is logarithmic, so 150 dB is *very* loud compared with 130 dB, you'll need a bunch of amps to get
there.
The Echo was a fun little toy but with all the kit in the back and reworked dash, doors etc.:
- you look like a dizwatz driving it
- you can't park it 'cos it'll get stolen and stripped
- only one of yr mates can fit, he'll have to be a dizwatz too
- even though this was a SPL competition car, not a sound quality competitor, I reckon the cost of the sound gear and installation must be pushing
close to the original car value
- at the end of the day, it might be a 155 dB Echo, but it's still an Echo.
