I used to drive like a maniac when I was younger. A real speed freak.

One day, this guy with an even bigger problem started tailgating me. Ahead was a section of graded road, and when we hit it, a stone flew up breaking his windscreen. He overtook me on a blind corner and started waving me down. I stupidly thought that there may have been a problem with my car, and that he was being nice. DOH! He strolled towards my car as I wound down the driver window, and punched me full face THROUGH THE WINDSCREEN. He still had enough velocity to push my 2 front teeth together. A full skull reallignment.

I start to get out of my car, when he picks me up and THROWS ME through the rear passenger window. Then he goes for the rear window. Right about now, I start to get a little pissed off, and grab him. He is like on a full superhuman meth-amphetamine freakout, so it's not an easy fight, but eventually I get him in a headlock in the middle of the road on this BLIND CORNER. All of a sudden, he starts spouting this crazy shit in funny voices, and I freak and let him go. He runs to his car and drives off.

So, I go to the Police with the rego number, and explain what happened. They say that they'll take care of it. Nothing happened at all! If they'd gone to his place, he would have had pupils like the black sea, and a pretty broken hand. Good ol' Queensland Police. To protect and serve. Yeah, right!

Nowadays, to stop the temptation, I drive a car that I respect, and one that doesn't allow "EVIL VWOMBAT" any chance for lead footedness. I love cruisin' at 80 more than most things, and I get a special pleasure from watching people get frustrated about losing their 2 second time advantage behind me. Zen Buddhism and VW's have changed my life.

Letting it go? Ah, I could've drove around frustrated looking for the guy with a large piece of metal, but hey, that's just more work right?

It's all just part of the funny cavalcade of adventures that is my life I guess. Some other very weird things have happened too, but that definitely ranks as one of my 10 best stories.

Getting stabbed at 1a.m. in my home by a customer of my drug dealing flatmate, that was another one. Those violent episodes never really affected me the way they should have. I just got more careful, with a better reaction time. It's helped a lot by tuning me in to danger tho'. I saved a girl from drowning in France once. Big waves - young woman with boogieboard - bad idea. All this stuff just makes you who you are, and it all helps you grow stronger.

Isn't that one of those ones "Batman" executes with the use of a grappling "hook"?

I cant believe I am the first to say I really hate road rage.

Every driver makes a mistake on occasions, or inconveniences someone etc. If you are driving hard the chances of it happening to you are much higher as the really bad drivers who make lots of mistakes are less likely to judge what you are going to do, how fast you are going etc.

I dont think there is any excuse to pull someone out of their car and beat the shit out of them. That deserves locking up. I do not believe there is a shade of grey here.

Next thing my 92yo Granny is bashed for going 5 kmh slower than the speed limit by matey boy who is going limit or faster and rides up her arse and pulls up beside her to teach her a thing or two?

So it the biggest dickhead/gorilla on the road allowed to go wherever they want? I bet every person on this list has had a few moments of erroe at some stage in their life. Do you deserve the beating if you happened to have matey boy and his crew or princess road rage... ( I have seen a girl smash a ladies window with a club lock....) behind you at the time.

Does your mum deserve it?

Do we vote 1 for road wars, where every trip is the chance to learn a lesson?

Fight club at every roundabout?

Live and let live. Listen to cool tunes instead on the radio. Put the window down and drive with the radio off and listen to the world. Chill out and take a deep breath. You will live better for it.

Ummm I am off my soapbox now, kool karma to you....

Hey Koolkarma - I wasn't supporting it in any way man! I'm the victim of it, and think it's the sort of behaviour that absolute truckwits engage in.

If you have to express your emotions with your fist's, what does that say about your intelligence and vocabulary? Fisticuffs are simply the banter of Neanderthal's and Ragamuffin's!

Road rager's should have their licence's revoked and be forced to smoke a bong load or two (Government sponsored naturally). BTW with all of my drug references, people might think I'm a DF'd loser, but I don't actually take any. Not even Caffeine or Alcohol.

Kool karma to all those who know what it means!

There's definately no excuse for getting violent.

I had a p-plater tail me the other day so I slowed down a little so he'd go around me. He got into the lane next to me and reefed his steering wheel over, forcing me out into the lane on my right & the car that was in that lane up onto the median strip. He was willing to wreck his car, my car & the guy next to me not to mention hurt all three of us pretty badly, just to get back at me for doing 40 in a 40 zone.

That behaviour is just psychotic, it's not normal. I seriously think that actualy thoughless, violent road rage is an illness.

I have to admit though, I don't mind pissing idiots off. Problem is, that can backfire too.

Started this poll because I had copped a mouthfull from an inconsiderate driver, it seems that I am not the only one who has been victim to it. Interestingly enough the poll shows just as many of the forum readers have lashed it out as have received it.
No doubt it's happening everywhere, but the message seems to be to try and keep your cool for the benefit of everyone your own passengers included. Nevertheless it is still going to happen, my tip never lose total control and resort to physical violence, a smart, calm remark can often cut deeper than any explosive blurb. AT ALL TIMES PROTECT THE VW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dish out the abuse quite often. But the sad fact is that 50% of people cant drive. People refuse to merge behind a VW. People who wont let other cars merge. People zig and zag changing lanes for kms in peak hour and still end up the car in front of me. People cant keep a car in one lane. Rubber neckers at accident sites. People who slam on the brakes and do 60km past an 80 km speed camera. People dont keep left. People dont give way. My daughter once told me (she may have only been 4 at the time, only 5 now) that someone was a moron for parking where they had because it was sticking out on a bend. And I had to cross to the other side of the road. 4 yrs old and she knew! Last night cruising down the freeway there was a car broken down in the left lane, someone had stopped to help. The helpers car was on the white edge marker line. He got out of his car, opening the door up into the 100kmh traffic, the car in front of me had to swerve to avoid it.

I'm sorry but if people are dickheads, seemingly unaware that they are dickheads, then it is up to me, to let them know... they are dickheads. I know that I aint a dickhead, cos nobody ever tells me.
