In one way, it is a shame that there is no 'official' timing at Nambucca. In the past, some people seem to have taken hand-timing as gospel truth,
choosing to use this mis-information to carry on like kindy kids and criticise or otherwise challenge the accuracy of, legitimate trophy-winning
results SCORED AT OTHER EVENTS!!
That is why some people here have chosen NOT to "compete" - so as they are not constantly asked to justify thier 'time' by some poor, petulant
souls at what should be a 'fun' event. I recall, for example, last year - one competitor was actively and loudly criticising another's car, engine
builder, engien configuration and driving on these forums, crowing far and wide how he 'won'.
Until, in the absence of 'official' results, a simple calculation by a third person proved him wrong. It was not only a right royal pain in the arse
for many who read the thread, but highly embarrassing for the competitor/workshop involved. I think that was a contributing factor to him being
banned... all from what should have been a 'fun' event. Yes, that's right - this poor fellow managed to 'hang' himself on a set of results that
weren't even properly timed... quite sad, really...
Having said that, if you are going to Nambucca, get out there and have a lash, especially if you have never 'let loose' on a track before. It's top
fun!!!

do what you want, if you want to spend the day drifting go for it. Iam just going down and having a go going around the track, and enjoying other
ppl's company who also just want to have a blast. Sure timing would be nice, buts its not all about who is fastest, its about having fun aswell, you
would have never have gotten into motor sport because u want to win, it would have been for the fun of racing and pushing urself and car to the limit,
sure wining is icing on the cake. The trophy sounds good,
best spin, best drift, best sounding car, best stuff up, fastest LOOKING car, etc
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!

"would the whinger like to expose himself"
Yeah okay, you first, Gay!
<once again, for the dummies> I think most of the more experienced and passionate VW freaks on here would agree I wasn't having a whinge,
simply making a slightly tongue in cheek reference to what has happened in the past, and why that has affected some people's decision whether to
'race' or not - including mine.
But now that you've mentioned whinging, my post higlighted the fact that last year, some people DID have a whinge when it was pointed out to them
that the results, based on unofficial hand-timing, were incorrect. My memory is the fact that these 'results' were also used to question the
validity of results gained/trophies won at other events. Like, derrrr... grow up.
The circumstances surrounding this whinging is, in some people's opinions, is not worth the effort to prepare the car and take it to Nambucca. But,
as I said, get out there and have a flog anyway - it's damn good fun!
But for those of us for which racing (at Nambucca and elsewhere) is a significant investment of time and money (preparing cars, tyres, hiring tow
cars, organising time off work etc), and the fact there is no 'official' timing, we won't be running due to the fact that people (like you, by the
looks of things) take the shine off what could be a fukken good fun event. I'll be there - but I won't be busting my guts to get my new engine built
to get it to the track.
That's not a whinge, Gay and Johhny, that's fact.

I'm not 'just blaming it on you' - but you chose to make an attack on me by accusing me of whinging and challenging me to ...whatever.
I have responsed to YOUR attack by re-iterating points I made in my original post - that some of us won't be racing or 'demonstrating' our cars
because it is simply not worth the heartache to be 'dumped upon' for months afterwards by people who claimed to have 'won' the event or thier
'class' or whatever on the say-so of a pimply-faced kid holding a stop-watch.
You seem to be the only one here who hasn't picked up on that...?
It's not that my little blue beast is 'too good' as you say, but to get it there involves me finding the money and time to import my new heads, get
to Coffs (1200km round trip) and have my engine built, then set up my fuel system/carbs/EFI whatever, run the engine in and then get it to Nambucca,
along with completing the other car I intend taking this year. All in about 8 weeks. All for an untimed, unofficial event (yes, it's a shame) that
may - if it's like last year - be the basis of waffle and bullsh*t and whinging for months afterwards.
Oh and as for what 'other VW freaks' think, I'm sure if they have strong enough opinions on how I will spend MY time and MY money, they will let me
know...

Cool,
Did you choose to bag ol Bugeyed for the way he timed the event cause u did not like the results , or what ?
I hope he times it again , or at least some-body should, you can always say u were not trying to go fast when the result doesn't suit u.
poeple drive race cars without trying to go fast ? I doubt it.
I hope we get a full field of vw powered cars on the track.

Ok just one simple question people- do i need a cams to do this *event*. Does this cover the car or only the person responsible for getting the
license. What i mean is if i get a cams under my name does this allow my better half to also have a go at the event.

The CAMS licence covers you for Personal Accident Insurance only. It does not cover the car at all. They pay your wages if you are injured enough to
be off work for extended period. I think it may be 2 weeks or more. Dont quote me on this one, the only experience I have with it is that a friend had
a hard time getting the money, and that was many many moons ago.
I dont know what level of licence they will ask for. I am guessing that it will be 2S which is currently $83 from memory. You need to be a member of a
CAMS affiliated club to be able to get a licence. You will probably be able to get both of those on the day through Kempsey Sporting Car Club/Jan
Munro. Or you could get it through Wollongong Sporting Car Club/me.

I try to go flat out around that first corner, see how much drift I can get happening. Just go and rat it out like the feral from warilla that I am.

No, no, no I am not criticising Bugeyed. That is NOT the point of my post. In fact, the timing was commendably consistent. I know how difficult timing
cars can be - and I didn't run my car, so I don't have an issue with last year's 'results'
I'll summarise it again..... once more, and once more only, before I start getting personal and returning fire with the shit slinging.
"Some people have chosen not to race at Nambucca, due the fact there is no precise/official timing."
HAVE YOU GOT THAT, GAY, JOHNNY?
I hope we get a full 'field' of VWs too - I will be sitting there on the hill enjoying the day!
