this called for the drill. From the advice of others, I drilled a smallish pilot hole through the middle bit past the head

its been quite a while since I last updated this.
So far i've been to japan on a shopping trip and back.
spent the last few weeks running around getting stuff together to finish off the pan so i can get the body on it. My doors have been rehinged with
the threaded pins on both sides now. Before there were the non threaded type on both sides
Finally got to finish the fuel line. I used 3/8" Bundy tube, it was PBR branded stuff. Soft annealed steel tube, 10mm OD, 1mm wall thickness. Good
for up to 3000PSI or something
I put an acrylic sheath around to act as a full length grommet and to stop it rattling. The line went in front first, and took quite a few tries to
bend it in the right shape so it would end up in the right place. I drilled holes in the sides and ziptied it to the side of the tunnel

the fittings i used were 1/4" BSP brass compression fittings. These are rated to a few thousand PSI i think. They are about 8mm ID.

having the body off the pan gave me a really good opportunity to find some rust. and I found a bit of a hole at the front firewall. the previous
owner did a dodgy repair. The heater channels were a bit rusty but solid and already had some repairs done to them.
Cut out most of the rust and cleaned it out a bit

currently also restoring a decklid that I will be grafting vents on it from a 1500 decklid, this will end up looking like a cabrio one. The donor one
was a bit rusty at the bottom.
i'm drilling out the spot welds that hold the bracket bit that gives it stiffness and supports the latch

After removing the bracket bit i began to see why the early decklids always rust out at the base. it is an absolute rust trap! Possibly one of the
worst details i've seen. It took them till the late 60's to change the decklid design!

I really like black Although some parts of the prep work are pretty
meh... If you look really closely on one bit or two you can spot brush marks!:blush
but thats only if you look at it real close. I bought it painted already so I can blame it on someone else:P

Ok so the body is off and I have a better look at the heater channel, looks like the previous owner did a dodgy rust repair and just got some sheet
metal and plug welded over the existing one which was rooted! The plug welds were about every 6 inches which is next to useless anyway!
