well here goes. this is not my first, i have owned many but i scoof at those who live in their past glories, so i wont want to do the same. this is our 62 splitty. pride of the fleet for the moment, and driven hard every day every where... discs all round, 17s, good stereo, nice motor, safari's and a wicked stance

The car everyone loves to hate

This is Bens 56 Oval
It runs a fuel injected 2.8ltr type 4 motor, linked up to a porsche 5 speed box..
It's got a narrowed front beam, IRS rear, porsche wheels, 4wheel disc brakes and it has a full custom trim.
Anyone going on the DNVK cruise on the 4th of july will most likely get to see this thing in the flesh.
Its a realy nice car.

Here's the 67 beetle I used to own.

Klaack built 1641 with mild internals. I loved the car, wish I hadn't sold it but I didn't need a third car. I'll build another one one day.

Possibly the most recognisable baja in Aus or at least QLD is Dozer (it likes to push sand:thumb). 62 bug, mostly standard , stock worn 1500 (i think) and with a bit of luck should be getting a cut and turned disc brake front end out of the country buggy this weekend. I love her but am already planning a successor.

1960 Heidi- 2nd owner, fairly original bug (still got factory plastic on the back seat) owners manuals etc. 92k

'83 Kermit- diesel golf, mum and dad have had him since new, been passed through the family... nearly 300k on him and now he's seen better days waiting for my sister to restore him hopefully in the near future :)

Here is our little group of lovelies:-

61 Karmann Ghia that will be going soon now we have a 356!
Suzi's notchback - original condition low miler 1500S
71 Bay Window Microbus - nearing completion
61 Karmann Cabrio - soon to receive a turbo engine and Porsche brakes/17' wheels
65 Devon split - all the way from the UK across Africa and my daily driver/bub hauler
58 Porsche 356A - slowly getting there.

We just had a baby 6 months ago, and bought a new house, so apart from the daily drivers most projects are on hold for a bit!

http://www.matara.net/myvws/myvws.jpg

Oh! and I nearly forgot, my first beetle that I still own. Its in Ireland with my folks and gets driven when I visit, and being green my dad uses it in the annual St.Patricks Day parade.

http://www.matara.net/myvws/zv3460.jpg

All are runnning, driveable and see regular daily driver use.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Guys

New to this site, just thought I would check out the VW scene in OZ, before I come back in a few months.

This is my 57 Panel, prostreet box, 2180 with Porsche conversion. It's an ex Termite and pest control van with original logo's

Second is my 57 Oval, about to get sprayed Flat black. It's no longer on that pan.
Also have a 66, but only bringing the van and oval back.
