Sorry to change the subject, but it's sorta relevant.

I plan to get my car resprayed at some point, and I was just wondering what other people have paid for their paintjobs, and are they happy with the results.

I paid 3 grand for the p job on the Notch, and I looks ok, but not the best job I have seen! Just depends on how much body work and how picky you are about the quality! Also depends on how much work you are willing to do! Are You going to colour change? If so, are you going to go back to bare metal, or blow over the top of the paint that is already there? All these factors will make a difference!

Cheers N!

Paint Job

I paid 5 grand for my paint job (split Kombi)and it was worth it. it was painted inside and out the spray painter said he used 16 litres to finish it.
If i put a dollar in a jar every time someone tells me what a cool paint job my car has(6 x a day) it will soon be paid for.
As for the colour think about this, a team of designers spent ages thinking about the colours for VWs. they chose the best colours look at the range of colours for VW's and pick one, you won't be sorry, not to mention it will help your car retain some original value for resale :bounce

I will be keeping it the original colour, but it has been badly resprayed in the past and will need to be stripped to bare metal, but it has only a couple of dents.

I'm going the diy route with my baja, but on my street car, I think I'll get someone who knows what they're doing to do it.

I dunno, in some areas you can see two colours. Maybe I'll get someone who knows more about paint to see if it can be touched up. I sure hope so, I don't really have a spare 2 or 3 grand to blow on a paintjob.

I've already got the tools to respray, just none of the skill, but I will practice on the baja. The reason I wanted to pay someone is, that my bug is my daily driver so I can't have it off the road for ages. but I'll see if I can get away with just touching up.

Yeah, I have read the info at bugshop, I will be following these instuctions to paint my baja.

Did you go back to bare metal? How long did the body prep take?
