Spend the money on the bus.
Some will take me serious so I have to add a disclaimer.
Jim will know I am taking the piss, I think its cool.
Sad how people take things too seriously

Brad, no worries. Thats an evaporative air conditioner from the US, commonly known as a swamp cooler, and thats why it is on the drivers side, as it
should be on the passenger in the States.
They have a cylinder of hay/ straw in them, attached to a rip cord, that when pulled, rotates the cylinder. The cooler is half filled with cold water,
the string pulled, and all the straw dampened. Once the car starts moving, the 'warm' air is pushed through the cold straw, and cools the interior
of the car. Pretty prehistoric, but these coolers are 30+ years old, and some start in the 1950's. Not good in rush hour..
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info and the workings of the Swamp Cooler.
Not comparing to todays A/C, how would you rate the cooling qualities?
Thanks again.
Brad.

To be honest, never driven it with the swampy on, so I don't know how well she goes.. Just for looks..
And yeah, she has won a few trophies. It is quite a sweet thing. Always was, even before I owned it and Stealth owned it.. many admirers, and rightly
so.
