Whoa! nasty fuel line buso, when I was putting fuel lines in for my EFI setup a mechanic friend of mine actually told me to use flexible lines down through tunnel, I was surprised anyone would be that silly. Suffice to say, the engineering signatory wasn't happy with it either.

I feel for you with all your oil hoses too, Once you put a large non-VW motor in an IRS car, everything seems to be crowded around the axles.

Keep up the good work, it'll be tops once it's done. Fitting the turbo will be a snap, um, was I thinking out loud again? gotta stop that........:thumb

Ideas

Nice work dean

looks like youv'e been busy. I have an idea for the rear closing panel the one above the exhaust. Make it double skined so that the heat from your exhaust won't rise into the engine bay. maybe make a heat shield over the exhaust as well. It may sound complex but I recon it would be easy to do.

good luck

Hmmm turbo set up hey! I was in a Porche wreckers yesterday and saw all these kool turbo bits and though hmmmmm!!!!.

Nick that idea of a double skinned panel is a good one mate. I think I will go with that. Maybe sandwich some heat sheilding and sound proof stuff between the 2 skins.

The oiling set up just got a lot simpler after a discussion with some porsche guys yesterday too. Put me straight on a lot of things.

Pete, I would love to cruise this thing up to the Nats. See how it all pans out. Could even trailer it up I spose.

Nath, how about a mid mounted 911 in a an Oval mate. whoo hoo. making sparks with the curb feelers at a 120mph. :bounce

Hey Glen, it sounds real nice on full song. But I havent heard that for a while now. Hopefully it will get finished and registered before the end of this month. Fingers crossed and work allowing.

Was sitting out under a tree at the front of my house for the past week cause the garage was all set up for building work on my week off. Not a good situation:o

Whats that shiney thing on my bumper. !!!!! Yep finally registered. All went withiut a hitch and just flew thru the Vic Roads inspection. After the 3 of us including 2 Vic Roads vehicle inspectors worked out where the engine number was. For the record its under the right hand side of the fan housing on a 911 motor.

So all there was to do was open up a vien and give them lots of money and I was away with a new set of plates and a rego sticker. Most expensive bit of sticky paper and 2 bits of aluminium I have ever known.
State taxes hey!!!:repuke

Been for a nice long drive tonight, just because I could. Motor needs a good tune (because I have been mucking around with it) oil change and a good long drive to blow out the cobwebs. Other than that she pretty much good to go. Bound to be a few little things that crop up with us. But all in all I am wrapped.
Cant wait to get it down to Calder on a drag night soon. :thumb

I asked for the plate TYP034 and it was available. But!!! and theres always a But (and her name is "The Boss") wasnt too keen on me spending another almost $300 notes on getting it. So I caved and just went for the run of the mill plates. Maybe change them later on.

Oh the right hand drive T34's are code Type 344

Full personalised are $400 plus.

wow, I cant believe personalised plates cost so much now-a-days. Talk about tearing ppl a new hole...

btw Dean, try this with your next night photo shoot with your car: set your camera to that same exposutre time and apeture, but use the flash as well. then you should be able to see some of the front of the car, as well as having a dark background... =)

Dean, that is an impressive car. You are doing a real nice job. The attention to detail, the perserverance, the passion!

My only disappointment is that I will likely never get to see it, since I am so far away. But I certainly do appreciate being able to at least see pics and follow your progress through the forums.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Dennis, hey California is only a 16 hour plan ride away. Come on over for Valla next year. I will be there along with the a lot of the best VW's in Aussie.

Finished "tuning" the engine tonight. Taken me a few goes to get it running right as I am a real novice when it comes to these flat six motors with mechanical injection. 6 throttle bodies to syncronise heaps of linkages to set correctly and the injection pump to set just so. All by ear with out the luxury of a CO meter. But despite myself I have managed to get it idling right and pulling thru the rev range with little hesitation.
Taking it to work tomorrow. Will chuck in a can of injector cleaner and get a few k's of use over the weekend to burn out the carbon thats more than likely built up from way too much idling in the drive way. So Melb dubbers keep an eye out for me and dont forget to wave.
Cheers
