So how are ur calculations working and what are u calculating?

I reckon your mate is jealous.

Divide 1150 by your kw reading to give power to weight ratio. less kgs each kw has to push the better. like a desktop drag race.

so 1150kgs/120.7kw

= 9.5

is this any good

Also my mate which pointed this out had his mates dyno reading that has shootout mode and normal mode and shoot out mode gave a 10% higher reading

Whats the use of these 2 modes???

I don't think that it really matters Costa, as long as u use the same dyno on the same mode everytime, it's all relative.

To be quite honest I was expecting CT's 1916cc to make more than mine despite my recent upgrades in the head/rocker department over Xmas. I've also been slower in lap times as well but we put that down to the 150kg weight difference in our cars & also the gearbox difference as well, mine having a L-bug box with the higher gearing than CT's superbug box.
I've since changed to a close ratio box to try & play catch up as well as the head work & berg rockers.
The specs are as follows

1880cc 73x90.5mm
Chevy rods
Engle K-8 cam
Berg 1.4 rockers
040 heads with 40x35 valves ported & polished with 3 angle valve job by Richard Holzl 8.5:1 compression
Berg dual springs
Berg pushrods
1.5 inch merged exhaust
dual 45mm dellortoes with update kit(horizontal discharge tubes)
Tall manifolds match ported to heads

CT's 1916cc 69x94
Counterweighted crank
Pobjoy 30/70 cam
Street Eliminators with 44x37 valves
44mm Webers
Berg 1.5/8 merged header
1.25 ratio rockers
9.5:1 compression
I'm sure that CT can give u more info & correct anything that i have given.
We were both quite surprised with his 76hp. I was quite sure that he would have more but by how much was another thing.
CT is going to play around with heads & maybe another cam & we'll go back to the same dyno to see what happens.

In all the years that I have known Richard I have never heard anyone call him Dick.
Yes he did bring the car along but was too late as he had trouble with some oil scavenge pump or something like that (too technical for me) & so unfortunantly missed out.

What the hell happened to Peter?
have i missed something sad here?
the spider didnt get hit on the way home did it?
bad? :cry

Yeah - as for my hit that was sad.
For the record i was at dyno day and just had my turn. took the car out and parked it and walked over to look at the spider. Next thing i hear a clunk and thought " uh oh! some poor sucker has been hit" - turn around and this goose has backed into me! I couldnt really say anything cause there wasnt any damage i could see. He reckon he was looking at all the cars and.... I just asked him to leave ........quickly.

Now back to happy stuff.
For the record Blue has
1776 - 69 x 90.5
Counterweighted crank
AP2 cam (sort of Engle 110ish)
8.5ish:1 CR
Stock valved 040 heads that are real old
Heads have been 3 angled but no "real" porting. Richard Holzl had to hemi them a bit cause i only had 43cc when i got them and they had to be opened to 48cc
IDF 36 carbs 40idles/140 mains/180 airs
Aircooled.net offset manifolds that were match ported by previous owner

Room for improvement

rejet - i am running too rich (but i knew that 140's either that or 120's. I need some 130's)
Probabally some 1.4:1 ratio rockers if i can get em cheap enough

TO be honest if i have 60 at the wheels - then that is fine by me! It pulls great and i have driven a few air cooleds now. "If" i can do some tricks and get it to 70 i will have a goal. Hmmmm mayne i should have taken the belt off!

No worries Keith, thank u for making drive your car, now I know what real hp is all about. Richard said that he might know where his Berg 86mm crank is...............if not, I'll get u to get me one later on in the year.

1st of Febuary of each year sounds great. Ct & I are going back to the dyno when he changes his heads. We have until the 12th of April for our first supersprint wiht the Porsche club & ideally we wold like to have the same hp so that we are evenly matched on the track, it would be no fun if one of us could just drive away from the other.
I'm going to play with jetting & also put on my match ported manifold gaskets! I left them at Richards & had to use standard metal gaskets which were about 2.5mm smaller in diameter to my ports! So I may pick up some hp there as well

Please accept my appologies for not attending guys. Unfortunately, I really had to be somewhere that I just couldnt get out of.... Its excellent to see some of the figures though and all of you guys that DID go, now know where you stand in relation to the performance of your cars.
Condolences to you three(?) that experienced situations that were out of your control. :(:(
I hope you all are back on the road veedubbing shortly...

worked out what shoot out mode was, its a constant dyno where all variables like ramp rate are equal so if i go and dyno my car somewhere else shoot out mode will be the same conditions as saturdays dyno:cool:

Hey Jak,

Yeah my car is probably lighter now. The cookie cutters are much lighter than the steel wheels I used to have. I can't afford to put much petrol in the tank. I think I ground the lobes off the cam to save weight too (judging by the dyno results). I'm running a dry sump becasue I can't afford oil either. I've filled the tyres with helium. I've replaced the glass with a plastic emergency windscreen from a service station.

Nah that's all BS. It's probably heavier since it's been upholstered and sound deadened, but not by much though. We can weigh the cars next time we're at Eastern Creek. We should do a test and tune day one Friday.

We'll have to figure out the our power to weight ratios so we can get them close. We might as well race with each other, we'll see daylight before we see Steve Carter's turbo bug.

CYA, CT
