I will look into the rules issue that must be a glitch with the code.

As for the club / forum bull crap ........ whatever ..... if the choice is to step on a few toes and keep the place open and going then I will be jumping on toes like there is no tommorrow... It always come back to the select few who work so hard to wreck it for others.. Well I have a list as IP's and VW businesses who just can't help being wankers... Now if they want to do it at least they have to be members first.

Life goes on and so does the forum... Happy to discuss it further if people want, feel free to email me brad@customoffroad.com.au

I think you will find that a forum is a meeting or medium for the open discussion of subjects of public interest. Therefore previously people that were non members only viewing the site were not involved in any discussion. It is not like there is a fee now. Therefore it is still a forum.

Also a club is not that different from a forum anyway, the major difference being that a club is a group or association of people with common aims or interests whereas a forum is more general.

This is a fantastic forum. It takes no time to register to become a member, so I dont see where all the fuss is from ?

PS - if you think this forum is popular, try looking at Baby forums. There is one (Essential Baby) which is an Australian forum with over 100,000 members !!!!! must be a nightmare to moderate. And for those who are curious, its my wife, not me, that browses those forums !!!!

I agree Doug, I asked the original question as to why stop non-members browsing, and got a sensible answer. I can't begin to think what crap the moderators and organisers of this forum must have to go through at different times. If making it members only makes life easier for them, then fantastic. Realistically, it is probably a very small percentage causing the majority of the problems.

And Doug.....we know it is not your wife on THAT other forum !!!!!:thumb:thumb

Well with the u2u it seems to make a lot more sense than the "closing the doors" topic which probably wasn't very clear.

Out of curiousity, does is there much legal difference between having a disclaimer on every page (By viewing this page I agree that AVD is not responsible... etc.) and having the current new system where it is part of joining?

i think thats its a sensible step that this forum is taking.... i personally think that this is australias best vw site and id hate to see it shut down for any reason!!!! personally i think that this is a neccesary step just like most forums or even ebay that protects them legally from people wanting to cause problems because of whatever reason.but id rather see this forum go thru this transition than not have this forum at all.keep up the great work brad and jim!!!!! and long live aussieveedubbers!!!!!:thumb
