More pics later. I want a rest.
Cranky got given more boost but broke the crown wheel on the first launch of theday.
I guess 450 odd horses is too much for even a tough type 1 box.

I had 2 runs, 12.90 @101 mph and a 12.91 @100 mph. then had a small problem, heard small rattle noise in the pits on firing it up for the 3rd run,
pulled the engine and found the flywheel was loose, destroying the crank and flywheel.
Can't complain, they have done a lot of runs together, sooner or later it's bound to happen! Funny, I just bought a Scat crank last week for a
spare, so I will now have every thing I need to rebuild the engine and be back for next time.

Breakfast in the pits.

Last run of the day already!

Time for a look see.

Too dirty for a paperweight!

Crank might be good to mount the mail box on!
Still had a great day, good to see a fellow Shoalhaven VW club member take out the day, congrats Wayne.

Lisa took MANGO out for her first ever attempt at the 1/4 mile and did a credible 16.9 sec run . Lisa's second attempt got her a 16.55 sec run . She
only had the 2 practice runs , so when I advised her that I didn't think that she would go much quicker that about 16.3 , I told her to dial-in a
16.2 for the VW bracket racing . She then came up against a blue (iron-cross) bug that had totally stuffed up his start which left her way out in
front , only to run a 16.163 and 'break-out' in which she was eliminated and I am in the shit !! However she is still happy that her reaction times
were quicker than mine , with her quickest being .211 secs .

the colour is called BLOOD ORANGE . It looks very orange in daylight and looks very red under flouro lights . Unfortunately most of the pics I posted
on the build-up were taken at around midnight each night after work was completed . Thats why they did look like red .

Interesting weekend for the Penboss Drag team. BUGGER (Type 1 1915cc T04 Turbo) did a shakedown pass of 11.2 off the trailer, then promptly snapped
the right axle in the burnout for pass#2. A new axle was put in, but not in time to compete in the Quick VW 8. Neil chose to run a Grudge match-up
instead, winning the round with a gentle (Gene Berg shortened axles are quite rare) 10.9 at 130mph.
Steve Carter caught up with Neil in the pits afterwards. He'd been sitting in the stand when BUGGER came up to race. The crowd behind him were
cursing 'not another sh*t Volkswagen'. Steve said when Bugger smoked the rotary the crowd was in stunned silence. Cool!!
Thanks to Henry Spicak for rushing home and grabbing the short axles. Good cure for a headache Henry??

Hi
Some of the crowd were very anti-VW, no class I think. Some of SMS messages to comentators were funny but some bagged VWs, one said for Costa XXX to
call home because his mom wanted her car.
I thought of all these great messages that I could have sent in retaliation, on the way home in the car, like what noise do Rotaries make? wank, wank,
wank, wank, or check your rotary block and see who owned the patent on your rotary?
It sure made the crowd shutup when Neil smoked the rotary, thanks for making the effort to come down and run and go to heaps of trouble to get it
running again.
Neil at work or is he asleep?

Steve

We weren't going home after a 2000km round trip only to race one qualifying round. Besides, both Wally and I are racers, and if there's even a
chance we can get back on the track, we'll go for it. John Baremans, the event organiser, was also appreciative of our efforts to put on a show. And
yes, Wally would have liked a bit of a nap, but I kept prodding him with the broken axle to keep him awake.
