This is the original seat and it is a bit worn but I wanted to keep something that had been with the bus since the factory.
There is a little tear about 5 mm long.

And here it was in 2 pac epoxy primer, the original paint had been removed by using a flapper wheel and sanding discs and this was the first of many coats of paint, the 2 pac epoxy is actually an american paint called Ameron and was designed for use on North Sea oil rigs, it is used on the steel and concrete legs in salt water, not like normal primer which actually atracts water.

Dave, keep the pics coming...

Can you post pics of the rear inside, and the rear floor? Is the checker covering just a mat? What is the inside of the floor like? Any pics?

Cheers

The inside of the rear is perfect, there was two small rust holes over the outriggers, these were patched with a floor section from another bus so that the floor matches, they were only about 2 inches square. It was them sprayed with POR 15, I made sure the thing will never rust again.
I did this bus to keep so it was done right.
The check flooring is vinyl and is glued to a 4 mm thick MDF, this is screwwed to the floor.
I will go and take a pic now.

The welding was the only thing I didnt do, this was done by PMGBUS .

Heres some shots I just took of the inside. I did use a flash so the red looks a bit bright.
The seat belts were fitted so I could carry my daughter in her baby seat( when I had a bay rear seat in it) we actually carried 2 babbies.

And just for the record, Bay middle and rear seats WILL fit in a splitty.
I borrowed some for a while but had to give them back so if anyone buys it and need seats they can easily find bay ones.

Very nice indeed. Incredible how that whole resto took only 6 months (saw but the date of the start and finish photo). Congrats mate. I'm sure there is someone who wants to buy it. Well, I think everyone would want it. Just depends if they got the dough. hmmm, money sux.

Sorry Chris but you have the dates wrong.
It was still in primer in July 2004, I then went to England for 6 weeks and brought back a load of bits and then spent 40 hours a week for 3 months from August to the show in November just to finish it.
I bought it on the 21st of April 2001 and it took 3 years to cut the rust out, weld it, do the body work and primer it and then flat it ready for paint.
The last 3 months were the easy part of painting it and putting all the new bits on.

4 years of love and hate and I dont regret doing it, as I have said, I spent $20k on bits and the buyer is getting 4 years of labour for nothing, But I have to sell.

Cheers

Holy crap mate. Just proves, ur bus is going really cheap for all the slaving and work you have done for it. Dam.

Yeah, it seems i do have the date really wrong then by the sound of it. That bus looks so much happier than what it did before the resto. Good on ya mate, very nice bus.

Its funny but the pic you are talking about where it is blue and shitty, you would never believe that I had been working on it for 3 years when that was taken.
As some who have done the work will confirm, splits are a lot of work to get right, that is why there are a lot of people doing rats, they know what is involved.

Hi Jim.
Dont worry I will be back with another once we are settled with the new baby in the new house. Just need the cash to settle some debts so the missus can have more maternity leave.
I tried to juggle the finances around but the only way was to sell the bus, as long as it goes to a good home.

I think the stainless allen ones look the business, I have used them on everything, even the tail lights and number plates, Have a look at the pic with the drivers door open you can see them all along the edge,I think I ended up spending over $600 on them.

Hows yours coming along, any recent pics.

Cheers
Dave

Starting to get some interest.
I will tell you something, someone will get an absolute bargain even if I say so myself.
Its funny , the interest is coming from people who have done buses or have a bus and are about to start a resto.
I think they know how much it costs to do one.

If anyone wants any specific pics of any parts or from any angles, just let me know.
I am not shy with the camera.

Also I forgot to mention.
The bus was built in June 1957 and I have a genuine instruction manual printed July 1957, one of these would have come with the bus when purchased new.
It took me 3 years to find this and it will go with the bus to the new owner.

Cheers
Dave
