The latest news....


For those of you who might be interested in a VW project with a difference!

My current project is moving along slowly again....
It's been a busy year, what with a young family, moving house, full time study and a part time job, but we are getting there....

It has a 911SC muffler on it now...Looks VERY fat!
Have some pictures in the camera, will post them later...

240hp, 310nM of torque out of a 3.3ltr NA engine!

let me know the trottel body od I may have a hose for this to fit a air cleaner to .

were the headers very heavy ? easy fix to turn them from left to right .

Neil....The throttle body throats are HUGE! Around 70mmØ!
The Standard Plenuim is to be used. Since these shots were taken, I have clearanced the front engine cover lip to make it fit.....I have to drop the engine to get it on though!
The airbox is another issue though....May run a 'pod' filter to start....

As for the exhaust manifolds....Considering they are cast, they aren't too heavy. Obviously they flipped around easy enough, making the 911 exhaust fit took a little more work, but looks very neat, and a whole lot simpler! I was thinking about making complete 'headers' for it, but the budget wouldn't stretch that far. Fortunately no CAT's are needed with this chassis!

the eg33 heads arn,t as wide between the cams as the ej20 an it is only 45mm longer.I was thinking of putting a eg33 into my bug but front cuts are hard to get in vic you have to use the orignal ecu.

Are you sure? In QLD you need to fit whatever emmission gear was fitted to the ENGINE your putting in, so if it's an unleaded engine you need a cat.

The CHASSIS it's going into has no effect if the engine if newer than the chassis.

Yep, Wes, I am sure....In WA the regs go by chassis number, not engine number.
My brothers RS Liberty/Notch is all legal and no CAT in sight!

Malcolm...I think you are confusing my engine with the current EJ30 engine....Not the EG33!
The current EJ30 engine is VERY fussy about what sensors the ECU can see. A sweet engine though....Love to stick one in my splitty!!!
If you plan to use the standard ECU, as far as I know, the OBDII ECU need all sensors in place. Including the trans sensors, VSS, Cruise Control, ABS, Climate Control...etc. ;-}
Maybe an aftermarket ECU would be a better option in this case.

if you are after a porsche box i have a 915 box which will be a hell of a lot cheaper then a G50/50 let me know?

Cheers for the offer wacked1 but I don't think I'll be looking at a Porsche Box for sometime, if at all.
If I did, I'd be looking at something that is stronger than the 915. I know these boxes fairly well and they are a good transaxle, but no stronger than an 091! The only real advantage is it's a 5 speeder, of which I already have in my bus... I have a mate in the US who can build me the VW transaxle of my dreams for around 4kAUS, which would way stronger than the 915 and nearly as strong as the G50, at around the same cost as the G50 shifter and Porsche CV joints! Plus it's a boltin job that my mounts, adapter and FW will accept....
