Thanks Gull. That was really constructive.
Btw, just sold our Subaru for a Kombi so ... there you go.
What size was the engine KK, before you had it rebuilt and how much do you want for it?
I'm really interested.
Cheers,
Tom

it was KINDA constructive. haha people need to loosen up a little.
also..i think he already said he isnt selling it anymore as he found out its too good to sell?
and to say "just sold our subaru for a kombi so...there you go"
people have also transformed their VW's into Subie powered beasts..swings both ways buddy. just a matter of personal preference..subarus being the
newer more advanced engines they probably would shit on the old aircooled . but thats just my opinion.
anyway..congrats on getting a better motor than you thought kombi kid,

I was contemplating a pobjoy engine for the Helbus and it was basically flip a coin to go either way with the VW or Subaru motor. Both would make the
bus have a bit more respect on the road.
End of the day I personally chose the EJ22 as I like to work things out and looked at it as a challenge.
I fully respect the idea of a high HP VW motor also. Good luck with it kombi_kid, it will be good to see it when it hits the road. :thumb

Its a 2l with a mild cam (6500rpm) new AMC heads dynamically balanced ...needs his new dual ignition system and a decent set carbs ...should push the
frid along nicely
...from what rhys tells me this is stans 'production' donk ....has built plenty and they are still pulling well and strong.
...he was only selling as he need the dosh ...got the better of me and we lent him some......sorry about stuffing you all about

that frustrates me..
1) you dont know what i would and wouldnt say
2) i said sorry straight after...as in...didnt mean it to be offensive just what was the advantage to anyone of you posting "why its not for sale
anymore"
and as far as showing respect goes...i personally think i have shown pretty much everyone on this forum respect. this was my first comment that could
be seen as offensive. and i wrote it because lately this forum has been turning into people just trying to 1 up each other and such. And im sick of
it. The veedub scene shouldnt turn into that of the import scene. lots of negative people in that.
so im sorry if i offended you in anyway. i just think people should less worry about what is beneficial to them and realise that some people DO want
to know things that others dont.

That sounds interesting, I was a mouse click away from buying it when I first saw the post. I was concerned that I would have to butcher my small
engine bay to make it fit. I have been thinking about putting a bigger motor in with an upright kit. Is that what you are planning with the frid? I am
still thinking along those lines so if you want to keep us informed of what is needed to do the conversion I would be paying big amounts of
attention.
My next cruise to Sawtell might be a little quicker up the hills and I may save some time with my off direction detours.

Oi
Lobus ...good to hear from you....yep ill upright it and jam it in the frid ...shouild be ready for the nationals ....might even get stan to do the
twin plug /dual ignition system...was a win for rhys ...he only paid $1500 for the complete kombi with this donk..the owner couldnt find the receipt
from stan ....he s a local drug dealer which caused rhys some grief as he was always getting pulled up by the local politze and searched!!!!...had to
change the plates and respray..see ya at valla ..then sawtell in 2007.....had heaps of positive feedback about the show.

Hi Ray, sounds sweeet, my mechanic was a bit worried about some engine mounts the 2 ltr has above it somewhere on top that the type 1 doesnt have.
Should have pounced when I had the urge and worried about the details later!
On a lighter note that is a good way to keep the young blokes on the straight and narrow, drive round in the local dealers delivery ride...
