Well after a few minor hiccups (mainly a few wiring stuff ups on my behalf), the 2110 engine is finally in Brad's KG. The wiring was tidied up, oil lines run along with new 10mm stainless hard fuel line along pan - then the heartbeat was reinstalled which makes the ghia a whole lot more fun! Those tyres certainly do stick :)

You should be able to see it at Valla in a month!

das, NICE work,

Are the rear deck lid springs still in place?
and how close are those carbs to the lid?
just interested as I'm in the process of the stroker for my KG.

Cheers OL

It certainly has - red interiors and silver paint seem to go hand in hand and work so well.

The left spring clears no probs but right hits the filter top however through its arc of motion, the spring only momentarily plants down on the top before it travels back up and off the top when the decklid closes. If you had polished filter tops it would be an issue, but Brad is running the solid ribbed aluminium type so it doesn't mark at all and filter doesn't get squashed.

Brad gave the KG a run down the coast today to try out the new muffler, as well as providing an opportunity to fix a few things before the run to valla.

Apart from a tempremental starter motor, the KG made the run to and from valla no probs....also picked up a top 10 award which I am sure Brad was stoked with (feel free to take over this thread from me brad or I'll just keep crapping on).

Here are few pics from valla:

Unfortunatley the KG won't make it to the VW show on sunday (Klub Fest) as tomorrow we have to pull the engine and gearbox. Reverse gear has been jumping out for a while now, and also the clutch is getting very tired.

Hopefully by Dyno Day it will be back together and tuned a little better too.
Alan
