Thanks guys! You were spot on with the tail lights DUBB61, exactly what I wanted and I'm stoked with the result.

I tried new angled exhaust tips too, but I'm going to straighten them again now, as I'm not real keen on the look.

That looks SO good. I'm glad you're going back to the straight tail pipes. Looks a bit funny. It's one of the best resolved "kit" cars I've seen. Wheels are spot on too.

I reckon clear for both would be better, clear on the inside kinda looks like reversing lights to me.

Looking Good Mick.

Have you now got Stickers on the rear window & maybe on the side (Rear towards the wheels)?

I noticed the car heading towards the M1 on ramp near Springwood.

Cheers

Originally they were all clear lenses with coloured LED's, but a quick check with the DMT and I was informed that stop/tail lights are required by law to have a red reflector component.
I took some measurements to section out the centre red reflector from the red lenses and glue them into the clear lenses, but it was all too hard at that stage, so I just went with the reds, to get the car back on the road.

Nope, no stickers. Did you see a white MKII with stickers? Where?

Yeah, a few mates said the angles would look good, but I'm definitely going back to straights. Thanks for the kind comments, and a big thanks to Nick (bond) for the wheels, as they do SO look the goods!

I'm glad you said that as the car looked tacky IMO.. :repuke

It was Saturday around 10am going from Kevin4wheels towards the on ramp to the M1 (Heading towards the Gold Coast. ) The whole rear window was covered in Large Case Red 1st Letter followed by lower cased Capitals in white.

No idea if it was a Subre but it was very close to one if it wasn't as it was only 3 or 4 cars in front.

Have checked out striping and picked the colour/design I want, but I'll post some photoshopped pics of the final three choices and ask for opinions before I do it.

If your handle says anything about your motor/pan combo, I'd like to bolt my body onto it too!

Cheers,

Mick.

Mate I love strips & Graphics on some cars..

IMO Your car & Mine are not suited to them, they are more of a classic which need no extras to turn heads.

Mono Colours only needed.

Your car would look great Yellow or Gun Metal Grey if you are thinking of respraying it.

But please prove me wrong with your designs..

Gun Metal metallic was my original re-spray colour choice, but it looks like after the interior is finished it will go up for sale. We've decided we should do something about buying a house, and want all the deposit we can get.

Giltraps auto museum value them between 16,500 (poor condition) and 28,500 (perfect condition). IMHO, mine leans towards the higher figure, but I'll probably ask somewhere in the middle range. Besides, it's always down to what someone is willing to pay.

The rice burner crowd around where I live are constantly asking me if it's for sale, and some of these guys spend upwards of 100K to make their Skyline/WRX/EVO look different to their mates. After all, it's all about exclusivity, which means a LOT to this crowd.

I've had one reasonable offer as it is now, but knocked it back as I really want the car finished before selling.

A few updates:

The first image is titled:

OMFG Mick, what have you done!

http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/975/img4503kg7.jpg

And here is what I have been doing:

http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/7393/img4513dp0.jpg

The upper one is the old black vinyl covered dash, the lower one is the new polished alloy one, where I have repositioned the gauges, warning lights and indicators to suit the vintage 1960's style Stewart Warner speedo and Tacho (acquired from urban_myth - thanks again champ!). Did all the drilling, cutting, shaping and polishing while on graveyards during the week.

Also re-doing the roof lining and centre console to be (hopefully) ready for Dubs to the Pub. More pics after it stops raining, and I get a day off.

Here is how my poor little car has been feeling lately:

http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/4166/img5109pc2.jpg

And here is the cure:

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/2222/img5115vw1.jpg

HUGE thanks must go to forum member MickH for these amazing looking rims, he may now request one of my kidneys if he needs it. I am so stoked with the result that I spent a good hour just staring at the car this arvo! And I haven't even cleaned and polished them yet!

Just the interior trimming to finish now, so more pics to follow in the coming weeks.

Cheers,

Mick.
