XA Falcon Coupe. Shortened 3" was used for perspective shots in Mad Max.
We put it against a wall at school.

A sudden lack of oil will often do that!

:spin: hasn't this thread been done before???

oh well..........
mine had an L300 engine in it and used to do 140kph,,,

so kewl, mine was lined with grafitti (er 'arty farty' poetry from passengers), vb labels and vomit. The boot housed a 10ltr cask of goon (stolen from an exhibition opening) for over six months, no one was ever game, I mean drunk, enough to give it a go once it turned a really weird dark yellow colour.....................

*wipes tear from eye* memories..... man that car ened up in some weird places, covered in weird stuff (both inside and out)....:puke

A V6 GT Capri. A red one of course. Bought it off my mother in 1976
I built 4 engines of varying performance for that thing. The last one would pull 6800 in top (4th) gear. Very close to 140mph in the old money.
Forged mahle pistons, BRC roller rockers, celica 5 speed and so-on blah.
In the end i sold the V6 to a M8 and turbocharged a 1600 Kent pushrod engine. Balanced 711m bottom end (F-Ford) Hepolite Low-compression forged pistons, a custom cam ground by Peter Watson from Watsons Racing Cams. Jim Berry of Italia Spares built me a Fitchel and Sachs clutch pressure plate originally from a BMW M3. It clamped something like 1800 or 1900Lb and was lighter than a stock clutch.
15 relentless years out of that 1600 at 10 to 12psi and I never had the head off once!
The engine saw 2 turbo rebuilds and lunched 3 turbo manifolds before i built one myself that lasted.
Selby/Whiteline/Pedders V6 suspension package and V6 brakes. A 4.1:1 Esky panelvan diff center.
13 x 7" Chrome wheels shod with 205/60x13's

Damn that was a good car. It went ok (I should have built a 2 litre SOHC engine rather than the 1600) but it stopped and turned like nothing else. It was so balanced! The harder you went the better it liked it. All the wheels went away at the same time when really pushed in the dry but it was lethally taily in the wet....dangerously so depending on the rubber on it. I never let anybody drive it in a spirited fashion in the wet. Put the arse out in it and it did NOT come back! A very nasty trait.

I built it with circuit racing in mind but in the end, it never saw the track.

I only unloaded that car 3 or so years ago............ gave it away for 500 bucks to a young dude that was desperate to build a Capri drag car. The fucking clutch setup was worth more than that!
But, Id grown tired of it by then. I hardly ever drove it and it was just rotting away sitting uncovered in the weather.

That freakin 1600 is still running to this day altho the car has been seriously abused now and is pretty much now a rusty bush basher.

Very sad day to see it run down the drive tho. My wife actually cried when it left.........................:(

Well yeah, they were certainly poxboxes.

I once did over 180km/h in mine. Lucky I didn't blow a retread. Quite stupid really.

Let's just say I learnt my lesson. I never touched Mitsubishis again. I hate the damn things. At least with dattos you can swap the parts easily. Mitsubishi changed component designs with their underpants. You had to know the year model + the month of manufacture to get the right part. The only good thing about the car was....no actually, there wasn't anything good about it. It was a shocker. If I'd had half a brain I'd have bought a squareback like I'd planned to begin with. Can you believe it? they were too expensive at the time. Never was good at saving up for anything. :o

My first car was a 1962 Beetle. Loved it to death. Sold it to my brother, who promptly had an engine fire. Fixed it all up, but never quite the same.

Aside from the Beetle, one of my favourites was a 1978 Chrysler Regal Valiant. Sweet Hemi engine, plenty of room and you could slam it to the ground with a twist of the torsion adjusters. Had as many creature comforts then as some modern cars have today!

308!?! Sounds like it committed suicide coz u put a holden motor in it. Are you sure it wasn't a 302?
