this debat is going slightly off track but there never was a production 3.0 in the uk 2.8 was the biggest, thats not to say people didnt bore and
stroke, as for the MK1 the uk only ever saw that in 1.6 and 2.0 4cyl form. never got the V6 unless it was imported or done by someone them
selfs(which happened a lot) i still say go the pinto easy easy easy :thumb

A Commodore engine in a FORD???!!!:repuke Real Ford drivers would rather push their car than have a Commodore engine in it!!:bounce
It's just wrong. It's like asking Hellbus to stick a Ford Laser engine in his EH!! It's like the poms selling the Nazi's Rolls Royce engines for
their Panzer Tanks.:o
It's just not cricket!! Go Warney!!!!:beer

Teheheh. It's not all that uncommon. Most 1930's Ford Hotrods are Chevy powered. Heaps of Holdens/Chevys have ford 9" diffs. Still with the
ford/holden rivalry it would be considered a rather odd choice for an engine! It would cause alot of inner conflict during the V8 supercar
series!!:vader Alternatively, it could create harmony and balance as either way, you can't lose. Kinda like Feng Shuei for petrol heads!

Ummmm sorry M8 but wrong and wrong again.
The Mk 1 saw many different models and engine combinations including both "Cologne" (german) and "Essex" (Pommie) V6's ranging from 2 to 3.1
litres in England.
The 3.1 was the famed and desireable RS3100.
Perhaps you might like to read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Capri
or:

to clarify things for you.

DubCrazy - as an old Essex boy from just up the road from the Dagenham Ford factory, I beg to differ mate, the Mk1 Capri came with a 1300 (in-line 4),
1600 (in-line 4), 2000 (in-line 4) and 3000 (V6) as standard offerings; then there was the Mk1 face-lift version, which had the same body/engines but
different lights and interior; the Mk2 had the same engines, but reworked for more power with a different bodyshell; it wasn't until the Mk3
(compeletely new bodyshell) that the 2.8 V6 came, but early versions of the Mk 3 did have the 3000 available.

... sorry forgot about the RS3100 that tass mentioned. I agree with his earlier sentiments as well, v. good in a straight line, but going around
corners became "interesting", especially in the wet. A few guys that I knew with 3000's had either lowered the rear to shift the centre of gravity
back (which was totally contrary to the very popular trend of jacking them up to the sky with shackle extensions), or carried ballast in the trunk to
add weight over the rear.

My suggestion would be a shotgun. Aim for the front tyres (they all drive "sportscars for hairdressers") anyway.
- Adam.
A cheaper alternative would be a motorbike. I dragged off some yuppie wanker in thier Mercedes Benz on their way to work about a month ago. The
tosser must have spent a 6 figure sum on a car he thought was quick. I only spent 16k on my Harley. It may be considered a tractor but it was still
quicker than his Merc. His blonde girlfriend wasn't impressed with his cars performance either (or maybe he was just a dud root that morning?)
lol..
