Hi

I only did one check, that was from Buladelah to home, about 257 ks, filled up today with 25 litres, so about 10 litres per 100. This was in a $800 1973 1300 twin port and included chasing Leigh in his fiances 1300 powered 1303 along the F3 and flogging it up the hills and then some Sunday evening traffic in Sydney.

My 2.1 wasserboxer bug was much better in the past, it always got around 10-11 around town.

You might have got there cheap but even a clapped out 36hp would have got you there quicker than the train!!!!

I was in the same boat as you, I would rather have spent a fortune on fuel just to have my dub there.

They tested all the crazy devices, including the magnets.

Not suprisingly the magnets did nothing, and the tornado thing reduced power by 10%. Read the other post...

From Yatala to Broadwater (Just south of Ballina Filled up 22.57 litres
Broadwater to Valla filled up 19.50 Litres

on way home Valla to Broadwater 19.35 litres Broadwater to Yatala 22.75

I am happy with that, as my odo does not work do not know the klms.

73 Baja beetle 235/75/15 tyres with 1300 gearbox and wornout 1600 dp and sat on 100ks all the way.

i got around 9.5L on the way down coz i was just puttering along behind judy and only gave it a good blat for a few Kms to get ahead of the pack so i could video the crew buzzing past

on the way back tho me and herbieboy82 sat on 110-115 i got 11L/100kms

Dunno, but my 75 1600 stock is on par with my 88 corolla.
But the Dub gets all the love, the corolla gets none.

i dunno how my bug is tbh, i think its kinda crap MPG but i thikn thats casue i thrash it most of the time... next time i fill up ill try and work it out!

probbaly not much different that 3 years ago :lol:

i find it amusing that my 1776 both with twin 40 webers and supercharger got better highway mileage than my original stock 1600
