The road to victory.
7.897@86.37 vs 7.947@85.71 (Adam Debasi)
8.129@74.74 vs 7.829@91.65 (Morgan Smith)
7.901@79.5 vs 8.063@87.72 (Pete Page "The Boss")
7.930@87.2 vs 7.547@92.59 (Dave Butler) 8.016@87.54 vs 6.605@109.49 ( Mike Kristin)
7.892@84.91vs7.777@90.54 (Morgan Smith)

My fastest qualifier was 7.74@87.2 on Sunday morning. Dial in of 7.85. These figures obviously dont tell the whole tale (eg reaction times , other racers disasters, red lights )

I'll post a seperate thankyou later.

I'm still unpacking and sorting through everything, but once I'm settled back into the routine, I'll have all the results and some goss.

Thanks to everyone for creating an annual all VW motorsport event for Australia. I'm already in planning for 2007.

Thankx guys for a great weekend.
Great to see some VW's racing for a change on a dragstrip.
You were all great to watch, doesn't matter what speed/times/etc you did, as long as you were on the strip & having fun.
Was a pleasure to watch you all.
The highlight for most girls I spoke to was Aaron's 20B Kombi....many couldn't believe it could wheelstand & haul ass like that....great to see a kombi even on the track let along doing what he did.
To many of you who helped others out with parts/a hand/ support/ a pat on the back to you all.
great to see friendly rivalry & supporting one another.
Our passion to see everyone have a great weekend & do well is awesome.
Thankx for a top weekend guys...you were great to watch.
Def going next year to support you all.
You were all worth getting sunburnt to cheer you all on
Thankx again

yep was a great weekend, we have marked our diary for next year.
Spoke to Rod Penrose he said that he thinks it was the gudgen clip for the .new pistons he put in may have broken as he found half a clip on the track.

He was told by the suppiler of the pistons he must use these clips even though he hates that type of clip.

I bet he is knocking on there door today.

Some CV carnage,
You can see the difference with a stock Kombi inner.
Mine are to suit a larger axle and became thin.
These had been in the car since June '97.

IT WAS F%#*ING AWESOME!!!
Many thanks to Craig for his effort over the weekend,
it has been 18 years since I last raced and I was giggling all weekend except for when I was being hunted down the raceway by a menacing black kombi in my rearview mirror. The bus forced my fastest time of the weekend. We had the slowest car of the day but also the cheapest. We went for a good time and came home with a runner up trophy. I also fully expected to blow up the datto motor in the squareback, will have to try harder next year. Many thanks to my crew " Team China", Cameron,Pete & Bajaboy + my cheer squad. Don't hesitate to enter any old car in the backyard you just have to be consistant. Thanks to all for not laughing at me directly we'll see you again next year:thumb

Here are a few pics - I didn't take that many of all the cars as I was too busy racing most of the time (well over 20 runs for the weekend!)

after having a look at Rods engine in the pit area after the blow-up , I don't think that a gudgeon clip caused the carillo rod to break in half and destroy everything in its path as it hurteled around inside the engine .
If he found half a gudgeon clip , I suspect that it was ejected after the broken conrod attacked the piston .
I was very disappointed to see this happen so early in the day , as he did not get to run the car .

Yep top weekend.
Thanks Craig and thanks racers and other supporters!

Was great to see Cranky complete 10 passes (including the fastest pass of the meet) over the weekend with nothing more than 2 fuel injection pill size changes and repacking the chute and filling up with fuel between passes.

Wayne, I think you are gonna need an ANDRA tech real soon... congrats, definitely a 10 second combination there.

I am really looking forward to some of your action shots Matt!

Out of interest, perhaps some of the guys might like to try the formulas
on this site to see what their cars could run on the quarter.

http://wallaceracing.com/eigth-to-quarter-conversion.php

http://wallaceracing.com/hpcalculatoreigth.php

Very interesting.
Just scroll down a bit to see the answers after pressing the "calculate" button.

Yeah we had a GREAT weekend

Craig thanks for putting it on annd thanks to the Warwick Drag Racers What a good bunch of people and a terrific race track

Pity NSW dosent have a facility like that

The Vintage car had 3 runs then we had an engine failure with a circlip coming loose allowing the piston pin to score the # 1 cylinder bore resulting in no compression After pulling the engine down and locating some Barrels and pistons in Bisbane 94Bs ( thanks Bruce ) we also discovered we had burnt the exhaust valve seats and bent the exhaust valves so the racing was over for the weekend

The car went straight and Safe which for a new car was a satisifying result for its first run down the track sat on the wheely bar each run and didnt lift pity we didnt get to try the parachute thats next time

Like Beck said if it was on again next month we would be there great people and top weather Thanks

A big thanks and kudos...

Thanks Craig for putting on such a fun event. The drags, street parade, corporate tent, camping, promotional advertising etc. It was a top effort.

I'm really impressed by the committment of the VW drag racers who surely are the backbone of the Australian VW scene. Most of the cars are beautifully turned out and the level of modifications, most being different, is incredible.

I love the tough cal-look cars of Dave Becker, Adam Debasi, Rod Richardson and most of all Fabian's Aussie Inch-Pincher.

I'm blown away by the amount of work that's gone into Cranky, the LMS car, the Vintage Veedub car, the Penboss car and the Penrose cars. Don't these guys sleep?

My little oval, CT 056, impressed me the most. It's had it's fair share of touble over the past couple of years at supersprints but not last weekend. It did 16 passes down the Warwick strip and drove all the way to and from Sydney. It's fastest time for the 1/8th was 9.7 which is, strangely, the same as the fuel economy in litres per 100kms.

The only drama involved Kenny the Koala. Late on Sunday night somewhere between Glenn Innes and Tammworth the ute in front of me did a slight swerve and then I saw a cute, but big Koala walk in front of my car which was doing about 110 kmph. They say you shouldn't swerve for wild life but I did and missed him. Thankfully the car remained composed no doubt thanks to the sticky tyres and circuit racing suspension set up.

The highlight for the weekend was the grudge races I had with Stuart Morris and his Iron Cross ragtop.

An awesome weekend!!!

Hi Rose,

The video looks great. Thanks.

You did a much better job than the people I've lent the camera to in the past. Normally I see their feet and then the sky with little else in between.

There are about 40 passes on the video which includes most of the cars in the field. I'm putting them on DVD this afternoon. I'll send you a copy and one to Craig at VWMA so he can use it as required.

I think Cranky might have done terminal damage to the microphone!
