I just stick with VWs. Had minis, great to drive but bast#rds to work on IMO. Had Range Rovers, brilliant mechanically-nightmare electrics(Lucas
,Prince of darkness!). My sons Honda, you've practically got to dismantle the car just to find the water pump! Wish I could afford to get into classic
British sports cars like TRs but as I said I'll stick with the VWs

Good to see some varied tastes amongst the "Dubbers" here.
My loves?
- VWs. All beach buggies, early Notchs/Squarebacks, KGs, early Busses/Kombis, Country Buggies, Schwimmwagens, and all the oddball prototypes. Recently
scored a '62 Notch in great structural condition and am restoring it in vintage road racer style.
- Peugeot 504 wagons, because the one I have has earnt more respect than any other car I've been involved with (with regards to durability,
versatility and indestructability).
- Volvo 244 sedans especially 242 Bertone choptop, P44, P1800 and Amazon. I had a 244DL (injected) that was a special order by a local doctor with all
red interior, lower sports suspension, driving lights and internal rear louver, and the Bertone sports instrumentation. All I did was rework the
exhaust and man that thing could go, and handle too.
- Chopper trikes and bikes. They make me weak at the knees. I especially love vintage style retro bikes. I'm currently building a chopper trike with
a front mounted 1200 VW motor coupled to a BW35 auto driving through a Subaru diff (with unis, not CVs).
- 70s Muscle cars. The real ones. I'm building a custom HQ Monaro coupe utility, using an original HQ ute with HQ Statesman nose and GTS guards. I'm
shifting the rear of the cab back into the tray/tub and bridging it in with coupe windows and a few other mods. It's going metallic "Lettuce Alone"
green with midnight blue GTS stripes up it, full Ocelot (cat) fur interior with shag carpet and dropped nose holding a large V8.
- Ferrari P3/P4s, Bugatti Type 35B/37, Citroen D Rallie, Porsche 550A, early Landrover, Jensen FF Interceptor. There are more that I'll drool over if
I see them, but can't think of them right now.

I am amazed at how many others are man enuff to admit to liking Volvo's heheheh... really quite extrodinary. I feel like much less of an alien now
heheheheh
I can't agree more on the Pug 504... they are such a sweet vehicle and I aspire to owning one one day!
one I also neglected to mention, but absolutely adore and would also love to own, is an early Alfasud. I know thy rust like hell... but they are a seriously cool car!... and the 1.3L boxer in the 'Sud delivers
the same horsepower as a 2L type 4 engine in a Bay kombi. Dad used to own one... well 3 actually at one stage... I am wishing he hadnt sold it... and
i think he is too! The Alfetta is awsome too.
One other I also neglected to mention... the Renault 8 and Renault 12 Gordini sedans... tres cool.. although the shape of the 12 seems to be an
aquired taste. My grandparents owned a standard Renault 12 (not a Gordini )
which they bought new in 1974, and they owned it until 1994, the only reason for selling it being that a manual was becoming laborious... it still ran
like a train right till the day it was sold.
1976 Kombi Trakka camper, "Buttercup"... driver.
1976 Beluxe Microbus, "Saphir"... resto.
1974 Kombi panelvan, "George"... shed.
1974 Superbug, "Schmeetle"... resto.

out of service.

Apart from air cooled dubs, I like anything that is a classic, ranging from an 1930s Vauxhall Prince Henry, to a Ford Model T, to a deuce coupe hot
rod, to a 3 wheeler Morgan, to a Jaguar D Type or a Lamborghini Miura. The only car magazine that I buy regularly is Classic and Sports Car from
England. If its well done or even a bit weird I will like it and maybe want one.

I would love another 63 Ford Anglia 105E but this time with a BDA Lotus Twin Cam some serious suspension and brakes and Entry to Targa Tasmania.
Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

I really miss my BMW K100 Motorbike. The best other vehicle I have ever had.
I'm into Subarus at the moment. Tried the Kia Carnival recently but sold it within 3 months. The buzzer was too annoying and the build quality is
fairly ordinary. Kept the Forester instead.
If I had the money I'd like to try the BMW A6. Saw one yesterday - Very nice.

I think I'd probably be into Minis or Alfas if I wasn't into VWs. That said, they are not nearly as interesting or clever as VWs. And that's the
thing. I'm more into clever engineering than specific brands. So I love rotaries, but i'm not in love with 70s mazda styling and handling. Maybe a
series 1 RX7. I like VL turbo commodores too but I'm a bit over Gtr Skylines. I also have a soft spot for dattos and escorts (especially Mk1
RS1600s), which is probably to do with my interest in rallying. WRXs are pretty awesome in Sti spec but I don't think I want to own one. I often
think V8s are totally overated but then I totally fell in love with an LH torana I saw at the drags the other night. I really like the idea of
hotrods, but I don't love them. I dunno, I just love clever mechanical things.

i'm glad i'm not the only volvo lover here.
currently in need of some rust work and a respray (+ engine and g.box rebuilds soon... time to add an overdrive and a B20E head?)
BTW it's a '64 Volvo 122S. (it was fitted with later bits before i got it so it doesn't really look like a '64)

Err...just want to make a correction from another poster.
Land Rover is def not German Owned...
It was for a year or so (BMW) then sold on to Ford ,the factory is still in the UK and some lumps are assembled in South Africa.
You can still trace the engine number back to the builder in the UK...
I do miss me 90....but gotta move on all the same.
to the other dudes that have landy lumps..you cant go far wrong than registering yourselves with this site

you want to invite me over to drool over the thing then be my guest :thumb

Love anything small, old and silly looking! (Especially if it starts with a 'V')
Teenage youth culture affiliations are a plus.
First 'own' car was a Volvo 244 with original blue candy-striped seats, '65 Vespa 125 Super, Late '50s SEARS All-States (Piaggio) - the Vespa sold
by a department store! ...
Currently have '73 L, '65 Mini, '64 Valiant Regal Safari AP-5.
Would also like '60s bug, Ghia, Type 3 square. |

yuck....weight distribution has gone out the window..
definately not a good conversion in my eyes. way too heavy
but escorts are awseome.
