I have to pass a pub everyday just down my street, especially in summer, just opposite a railway station it is packed even on the footpath, when I got
the 54 I few people would yell out "Herbie" among other more derogatory things, & they were being derogatory - I tried everything to sneak past, but
they used to wait for me, so I started just grinning, waving & a beep, now on a hot day, I get a huge cheer everytime I drive past, freaks out any
passenger I may have, & they now know the kombi as well
Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54  |

Hehehe... i get a lot of waves and peace signs and such from random kiddies I don't know when I'm in the Kombi. :bounce... it's so nice! 
There are this bunch of kids at a bus stop I go past every morning and as of late i have been getting peace signs and waves from all of em in the
morning when i drive past and I always reciprocate... so tis not all bad! 
Then there are the dickheads that yell out nazi-mobile type slogans and "hippy!!!" in a mocking unpleasant tone... they just get the "yeh good one
dickhead keep it real!" expression from page 1 hehehe

I don't at all mind being branded a hippy, I am indeed pretty close to it.

people smile at me in my car, well, sometimes boys who like loud low cars, but they are kinda cancelled out by the people who frown at me for being

yes... heather in Festy is definately the ULIMATE head turner. shitty old beaten up baja covered in mud and tearing down the highway looking like
something out of mad max, people do a double take when they see a GIRL driving it!
on the way back from valla a couple of years ago i swear if we had a dollar for every car load of guys ooggling at us, giving us the thumbs up...
hahahah... well, we wouldnt be driving shitty vws anymore....
the best one was when a stretch limo over took us just ballina i think and there was some dude hanging out of the window with a camera trying to get a
pic i think.... 20 seconds later he loses his sunglasses out the window and on to the highway. limo has to pull over so he can find them again. in
hindsight heather, really, we should have stopped to help the poor guy.
