hey Dave we have found some material ,alumec 89 a Swedish material with better properties than 7075 and its on our doorstep and cheaper to ,sounds all
good to me . did you see we had a response from don pauter that was a good boost i can tell ya and he doesnt mind if we bounce ideas between us ,we
wont be giving to many secrets away you never know what he will do with them .the head will be on its way to rader racing in San Diego, California to have the ports finished of . the plan is to have john rader
work them up were they can be used on the 4.6 - 5" bore .when we get them back we will get them digitized then finish the machining. the crankshaft
just needs the oil holes put in and that can go for heat treatment and then ground and finished .thanks jt

Hi JT and Greg,
Good to know you were able to source some material.
NOW. What are you making with it!!??
That is a great contact to have with Don Pauter.
Treat him well and he will give you the shoes off his feet.
You can both gain by the association.
People in the past have taken advantage of him,
so it is refreshing to see that he still has some "bounce".
Looking forward to seeing those heads Dude!!

We have been making slow progress, have the barrels up in the mill right now to finish cutting the cooling fins .Got the plate for the main caps on
thursday also have to make a fixture for John Rader to bolt the head down to the flow bench for him to do his "thing" . Starting to look at using
software to take the heads to their full potental instead of doing by "grinding and grinding" away .the software allows the user to make changes
then reflow the heads, once done take the model and convert it into code for the mill .You have to thank god for the 21st century

That sounds pretty good Greg.
Does that mean you can get John Rader to do just one of each port,
and then mirror them for the adjacent cylinder?
Is this particular head going to be for the 4" bore?
How's those crankshaft oil holes going?...joy!

All we are having John do is one set of runners , then will have them digitized , make that into a 3d model run it in the software to see if it can be
improved, mirror it, import it back into my cam software and thats all she wrote
Yes it will be used on the 4" bore but are making it so that it can be used on the 5" bore if so needed .Later will look at a overhead/twin cam head
set up ,this opens up the area of beening able to make a crank with a "big" throw on it

Here's the photos of the finished barrel. We only have to bore it out to size for the sleeve and then we are done...
Back onto the block next...
Does anyone know good supplies for carbon fibre. I am aware of Fibregast, Aircraft Spruce and Diversified in CA. Because of the war and airbus, a
lot of the carban has been taken up and is hard to get. Any input is appreciated.

The wife has a few problems posting photos of some of the finished parts
the barrels are all done , next up is working on the block /cam drive . Would like to
make carbon pushrods along with the injector bodies . When this project is finished just might get into some thing that has my interest...... carbon
blowers but that will need to wait for now

Making slow progress. We'd been having trouble with this forum so hadn't posted anything. Hope this photo's give you a good idea how things
are.
I couldn't help but put together what we have so far.

Thanks Dave for the link to Cal-look. I still seem to be experienceing problems with posting photos, especially when going the photobucket route. In
fact this seems to freeze me up every time.
For those who haven't seen it yet here's another link to ALL the photo's posted to date.

Judging by the cal-look thread - you guys are certainly getting a lot of interest in the US. I'm really enjoying watching as the enging progresses
despite not being able to contribute any valuable technical input!

I hope you can master the technical difficulties of AVD.... I have been following the thread on the Cal-look forum for sometime, but I thought we
could use something like this over once more.... It's a bloody marvel of an engine you and JT are building....
By all means, keep it coming!

Over the last couple of weeks we have been very busy here at the shop with work and have not done to much with the engine . Plan to put the block back
up on the mill and finish up a few things ,will be back with some shots later today or in the morning

Hi JT, what I meant was that due to my limited experience with hi-po engines and machining processes, there is not a lot of input I can
provide....however I am enjoying reading and watching so I can learn. So any info and details you guys post is appreciated! I've been following along
with the cal-look forum thread from the start.
Best of luck with the project - it will be a momentous occasion when you finally get to fire-up stage!

Wow!! What you guys can do is incredible!! Fantastic project! Will this be a naturally aspirated engine? How much horsepower are you expecting?
It´s good to see that you guys are doing this kind of work and developement.I think I´ve found another source for a custom crank...
