extremely unlikely that someone has gone to the trouble of grafting on the whole top section of roof to "make" a 23 out of a 21
notice a it has the correct narrow door and big window for a 23

good point... but weirder things have happened. yeah I'm not sure.
Isn't it a little strange that there are no questions at the bottom of the auction page?

Looks like there an ADD on as the post 64 never came out in the 23 window
Unless someone has added the 2 rear 1/4 windows
Now that posses some questions
I know thw rear door is right the Micro busses had the bigger glass fitted
Still think i will but it

then you gotta get NOS or good original parts to refit it. Get a body guru to fix it properly (and understands how to deal with 21/23 windows). This
is what makes something like this a 'grail' bus. If you buy it for 40k and just keep it, then you'll see the price rise and rise over the years to
come and would make a wise investment.
Fixing it? - gotta think that you'll need at least 40k to get this back to glory ... and then I hear there are a couple of nut and bolt restos
waiting for new owners and 75k with no takers...

This bus is genuine, having seen it in the flesh many times.
Lights have been updated at some point, but it is a '60.

Check this puppy from the late 90's, was at my place for a while some fella from Brisbane bought it from Valla for $8000.
It is a grafted roof and rear window job cut and welded along the belt line.
Not too bad a job either, I know I'd drive it daily for the 8k price tag but was scoffed at at the time.

Claytons Samba
Hi All,
With regard to the 61 Kombi pictured with the grafted roof and curved windows, I had a bit to do with the building of this bus and know the full story
in its development, but I would love to know where it is now.
It started life as a 1961 plain window van, it was in someones backyard being used as a shed and the owner said he would part with it if the buyer
built him a shed. So he built him a shed and then built the the window van up to get it on the road again. Then came one of the first IRS conversions
I have seen that the builder did himself, then the ball joint front end and disc brakes. Then a 1776 with Twin Kadrons. Then Fuchs. We were up at
Nambucca doing a scout for some parts and Luke Pell offered the Samba roof section that was hung in the roof of their workshop,(There is a great story
behind how he came about the roof section too) so home it came and the grafting began. All work was done at home and John the owner as always did
awesome work plodding along in his driveway not even in the garage. I loved this van and I hope it is still around, genuine panels and hard work made
this a treat to drive.
I hope John is still out there somewhere I heard he was now living in Bundaberg, but did this car up in Western Sydney.
Cheers,
David
I am also very interested in the story behind the E Bay Samba that has just sold if anyone knows some facts.

Beleive me the Ebay Samba would have had indicator and Tailight grafts done not a roof graft, it is a lot easier to do the lights than the roof!
Cheers,
David

Dave Calcool, I too liked this bus very much but the fella who bought it also bought a 65 dualcab off us seemed to have lots of money and taste for
spits but no idea about them.
He nearly said you guys can buy it, I don't want it anymore and then changed his mind.
Last I know they were in a carport in Brisbane, his phone number was diconnected, never said where he was either so they were lost!
Kombidog, are you sure?, what do you know with no names needed?

I seem to remember 8k being on it when it was at the Panther's show a few years back ... hahahaha ... tell him he was dreamin'. Never under estimate
how much people will pay to look at water or through 23 windows.
