Can someone clarify something for me. And that is that if you use UPS from the states they are the CUSTOMS BROKER i.e. at this end they will be the ones ringing me to clear any items that may be imported. I understand there may be some taxes but most of that will have been paid in the postage etc once they find out where it is going????????? Someone mentioned that they had to just pay $50 this end. Is it possible that if you use UPS you could get hit for hundreds at this end?

Hey Rich,

How much landed for that cool bike?

It would be a good mate for my Swiss Army bike

Cool bikes!!! Guy, where does the toothpick go?

As mentioned earlier, I did get hit bad for importing stuff from the states. In hindsight though, I suspect that the problem may have been the supplier who promised me that the price quoted included 'all costs' to send it to me.

The part was $250, freight was another $125, both US. After the exchange rate and other costs, I expected to pay around $750 Australian. When it got here it was about $790, and then over six months later I was billed by UPS for another $148 GST, which I refused to pay.

As I said to them, if they had made me aware that I was liable for the extra costs before I picked up the part, I would have paid it. But since they were stupid enough to bill me later for a cost I wasn't aware I should pay, I wasn't going to pay it and they could chase the supplier if they chose. This argument went on for another 12 months, and yes, I was mad!:mad::mad::cussing:cussing:cussing

Hence in future, I will always buy locally, unless someone is willing to send me birthday gifts from O/S. :D

G'day Guy, I'll have to get back to you on price, been to scared to add it up.
I did bring two in and am investigating more.
Also working on a 14 speed MTB version. Very cool.
I would have liked to put a hub dynamo on, but at $300 for the hub was blowing the costs out a little.
I have seen your Swiss bike at the shop, it's VERY nice.
