Al Troy's car should be on the dyno inside the next month so you are most welcome to have a good pep around the engine bay of it for some ideas being
it something similiar to what you are going to build.

11.8 @ 95 mph
Mark went racing a few weeks ago.
First pass was a warm up pass and Mark 60ft'd 1.6 / 98 mph to half track then got off it in 4th because it started moving in the top end and rolled
through for an 11.8 @ 95 mph.
Second pass Mark did a good burnout and a wheelie out of the hole but when he pulled 3rd gear it cleaned all the teeth off it.
3rd is the only gear used from Mark's box from 15 years ago and we think is a Bugpack gear?
The car is now getting prepped for Portland.

Bummer guys.
32/21 gear set?
I have seen a few of them broken...even on NA engines.
It is a good ratio, so I recently asked ERCO if anyone made THAT ratio still.
He said they had not been made for 15 years and were from Johnny's Speed and Chrome.
1.50 and 1.556 are available from most manufacturers with chunky teeth.(1.556 would be my choice with the 2.20 seond).
It seems common for blow through cars to break 2nd and 3rd gears.
Something to do with the blow-off valve not working fast enough I reckon.
Hope things have been well Nick.

Nick, this seems like a really good combo.
Can you tell me what computer you are running and how much the car weight is?
It is a similar setup to what I am doing and a similar power figure that I am looking for.

Thanks Nick.
Yeah I got that gear from BugPack in 1990...It served me well I think!
Hopefully next time out I will be able to make a full powered pass down the 1/4...I'm dieing to see how fast this car will go...It certainly has some
potential!
The computer is a Microtech MT-4. I don't know what the car weighs but it is not light. I could probably take 60 to 80 kg out of it with not too much
trouble.

Finally Mark got a full pass over the quarter and it went 10.95 @ 127mph with a pedal or two in third gear.
Congrats Mark on the good driving first pass off the trailer, and being the third streeter into the 10's in Aus.

Thanks guys.
Dave, the axles are just another set of SAW's, the same type as I had before.
60ft- 1.58
660ft- 7.05 @97.66mph ( I have run 100mph)
1/4- 10.95 @ 127.05mph
Reub, The huxtable (blue 63) is still in the pipeline, I just havent done any work on it for a while because I have been a bit sidetracked with this
green thing.
Rexy, If you are talking about that black bar thing going from one side to the other, I have it mounted to the case just below the oil pump and I made
some brackets that bolt to the body, and use 10mm allthread as "hangers"

Congratulations! Must be very satisfying to run those numbers after persevering through the hiccups.
Well done

Yes, it is very satisfying running some decent numbers.
As for hiccups, they have been limited to gearbox and axle breakages, and have been very minimal considering the punishment I am giving them.
The most annoying thing about breaking things has been the long wait to get replacement parts from the U.S. suppliers who allways seem to be out of
stock of the part that I need......

Adam, Heathcote has be packed for the last couple of months. Now that Calder has stopped holding their street meetings everyone is going to
Heathcote. There was probably about 200 cars there last week.....Very crowded in the pits.
It would be good to see your car there!
