KO 002 is still on Bill's Register.
In the comments column, it's described as "EX SPEIRS.BRAKING UP FOR PARTS".
It isn't clear to me when you state " it was gonna get crushed", whether in fact it did get crushed, or if is still around, even if Bill lists its
condition as "very poor" in the Register.
If there has been a change of status with this chassis, I'm sure Bill would be appreciative of any new info on it.
Regards,
Steve

Will,
If this CB is just down the road from you, either save it yourself or enable the rest of us to save it.
Don't let it go to the crusher!!!!!
I'm trying to encourage you to be proactive here, and be engaged and being aware as it relates to this unique piece of not only VW production
history, but Australian automotive history as well.
Go down the street, seek the owner out, and find out what the deal is with this vehicle.
I damned sure don't want to see it go to the crusher (and I live in the US).........but I hereby declare I'll offer $75 US for the KO plate
cut off the chassis......if that's the only option to saving this rare piece of Aussie history.
I guess you would need a torch.......
Since I am not quite in the position to import a CB to the US right now (but will be in the not distant future).......I'd be more than content with
this trophy.
Come on guys.......this is 002 !!!!......only three other CB's were made before this one.
Does no one else see the historical significance of what I'm talking about??????????????
Regards to all you CB lovers in OZ.
Steve

thats the only pic i took of KO 002 but beleive me the thing is well and truly rooted with rust
for someone not in aus u sure have a strange fascination with these things
ppl dont PM asking me for info im not saying where it is or who owns it
if he wants it to go to someone then im sure it will be offered here
but if it is crushed he;s keeping the KO plate off it
if it was easily savable i would have taken it a few years ago when i was offered it but ive already got 3 vws outta his yard so ive done my good deed
LOL

Hi Ztnoo,
If that CB was down the road from me i would race down there and flop over a few hundred $$$
and buy it, however this one is not. I am in Tasmania and the other one im guessing, in NSW.
The red one owned by the Eccentriv Ameriacan at Marions Vineyard, is valued at $500. That i would pay but not $5500.
Despite how much i love all VW's and buy everyone i can to save, i can't afford that much. Im still chasing several in Tasmania and Bill Moore has
been fantastic so far.(Cheers Bill!!!)
Yes Joel, i would go out of my way to save it, or at least let someone know about it so they can save it. Nothing is beyond restoration......
Nothing..... Google the Hebmuller story in England. That is a ripper.
Hopefully with enough info and if still available, i can find KO46.
Cheers Bill (Will)

What's the old saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure".
Maybe the guy thinks no one will want it in the condition it's in that's why it was going to be crushed, but I still think it's worth trying to
save it.
If I knew the guy I'd certainly drop over and let him know there may be people interested in it.
That's my 2 cents.

Here here......
Joel, please pass this onto the owner. It may be rusted BUT in the worst case, it might save a couple more from an untimely death.

I'd take this on.
most of what is rusted needs doing on any of them anyway.
If they wish to sell it to someone that will restore it let me know.

Gentlemen,
Sorry.... I get confused sometimes about where each of you are located. Australia is a big place and my vantage point over the horizon is a bit
distorted by the distance.
I'll try to do a better job at keeping all that info straight.
I guess we'll wait to see if the owner of KO 002 is going to test the marketplace with his wares.
Certainly from my viewpoint, the Tasmanian CB is worth saving, but at the price point the owner (Mark) seems to be stuck on and won't budge from,
I'd say its going to continue to occupy its rightful place in his shed for the foreseeable future.
Until such time he either absolutely needs the shed and/or concludes he needs to be more realistic about his pricing........as we say in The
States...."it ain't going nowhere."
Just take a look at Greg's beautiful CB....which is likely worth every cent of what Mark at Marion's is asking for his beat up and badly wounded
shed survivor....no one in his right mind is going to shell out that kind of money for Mark's vehicle.........no matter how good his wine is.
;-))
Regards,
Steve

The biggest problem is the cost of the buggy and then you have the cost of shipping the buggy back to the main land, were you can probably pick one up
on the main land and start to restore it a lot cheeper than when that one got to your front door.
