Jak, the earlier photo of your superbug looks identical to mine, except mine is red and the 14" hurricanes fouled on the lower ball joint bolt,
so I put second hand 15" empi 8 spokes on it
Did you ever have a front end vibration in yours ?

Grafton hillclimb
I'm calling in some favours (of which i'm owed a few) so should be able to make it to Grafton on the 7th and 8th of June for the hillclimb.
Might be taking the bike to save some petch, so anyone going up there look out for a bedraggled old zzr600 and a frozen rider. It's at
Mountainview motorsport complex thingy I think... Anyone from here contemplating going? Would love to see some unfamiliar faces Hopefully will be taking some shots of veedubs kicking some less stylish
butt while i'm there! *fingers crossed*

Grafton Hillclimb
It is well worth the trip to Grafton even just to watch the hillclimb. Mighty fine piece of tarmac...I especially love the first 2 corners. Wish I
could go . It has been far too long. Oh well, maybe the next one?

Hi Doug, Yeh I did have the shakes in the early days, that was back in 92, but I ended up just having the front wheels balanced on the car, it cost
roughly $25 each & that solved the shakes. Most times it's an accumalation of the disks being out of wack, the tyre not being round or the
actual wheel having had a knock somewhere in it's life. Another thing u can try is just rotating one front wheel at a time in it's stud
pattern. Then take it for a drive & see if it still shakes. Just get a marker pen & mark where the wheel originally was bolted to the disk so
that if one side doesn't work u can then try the other. It may save u some cash. A front strut brace stops the shakes as well.
Hope this helps.
regards
Jak
PS the 14 inch hurricanes didn't touch the lower ball joint but they did slide badly against the stone guard, I just took them off.
Congratulations to Ben Durie for breaking the hillclimb record at Ringwood in his stroker beetle!

I'll be at Mt Cotton Saturday and Sunday. I'll either be driving my Bug, 76 model dark blue widened steel rims and did I mention 1916, or
I'll be riding my Kawka, 2001 model ZRX1200R and black. Hope to see you guys there.
P.S. If this post looks weird it's because it's my first and I don't know what I'm doing.

Well about a month ago it made 123 corrected HP at the rear wheel after having a custom exhaust made for it. It weighs about 240 kg with a full tank
of fuel, can you say power to weight.

grafton
righto peoples, can someone who's going get hold of a digital camera for grafton hillclimb? I'll probly be taking a fillum camera, so might
be a while before pics get up, so digital cam would be better. I just figured out what time i'll be leaving sydney at on saturday morning....
eeeeeeeeeeeeep
also double demerits, so anyone heading up there watch out for the boys in blue who are thick on the ground, especially around grafton area.
mission time!
hope to see some other aussieveedubbers there so far looks like colin,
craig, steve, me and the pobjoys are the dub contingent.

yeehah :D
Great turnout at grafton, perfect weather, nice people, shitty fuel... everything was great til i got a tankful of dodgy fuel on the return trip at
Nabiac, forcing me to stop at Buladelah overnight while the NRMA tended to my sick bike. apart from that, the crowd loved the volksy contingent (lotsa
comments heard while spectating) and spoke to colin from tamworth in his supershiny black bug, saw astro and his kids (hope they're over the
nintendonitis ) and watched some seriously overpowered dubs shredding the
track. you don't realise just how well the humble dub motor holds its own til you see it race against toranas and hondas and other
'powerful' cars. real eye opener. the first two corners were HELL STEEP which made a few cars display their underpoweredness, while the dubs
just seemed to eat it up. yes dammit i'm biased to VWs, but it's true, the dubs kicked ass. Stan ran a blistering 47. something on his first
opening lap at practice, after which his tyres seemed to go hard. bummer really, cos the open wheeler of his blew away all sorts of insanely powerful
cars, when it got traction. wayne penrose had a magnificent lose in his type 4 powered bug, fishtailing it from one side of the track
to the other, collecting tyre walls and crushing both rear guards and (he told me) completely flattening his exhaust system. undeterred, his car was
back out next run, with about forty kilos of gaffa tape holding it together. wtg wayne gotta fix that fuel leak on the combi too... that was scary...
colin's (i think 1916cc) bug shamed a bunch of sedans into little bits, and jeff unwins turbo wrx powered "hatchback" was pretty quick
too, although it looked a lot more like a notchback (thanks commentator... ) also the formula v's kicked some ass and Peter Gumleys supercharged (combi?) motored entry i believe was fastest on the day with
something incredible like a 43 second run... BEAUTIFULLY turned out open wheeler. realllly expensive and pro looking. Craig torrens's course
record still stood at the close of sunday and wasn't pipped by some guy in a integra/supra/escort something shiny, who had
incredible handling, something like a couple of seconds behind Craig's AMAZING and UNTHREATENED 1916cc powered sexmobile (again soz to Craig
hehehe). didn't have to defend it, Craig i've got many pics,
just have to get them developed.... by which time you'll all be fairly old, and may have forgottten about this crazy dub obsession...
i can't say i recommend riding a bike at three in the morning at 2 degrees at 110 for very long, but it was worth it to see all the dubs kick
ass. thanks muchly to the Pobjoys and their northern hospitality for taking a frozen biker in overnight to defrost... the power of that 1916 open
wheeler is mindblowing. next time better have another set of tires, so they actually grip the road... i heard a few people complain about the
temperature of the track, but everyone gave it a damn good slugging nevertheless. don't kid yourselves people, dubs ROCK at the hillclimbs

for grafton or mt cotton? have no idea about the grren beetle for mt cotton, hes member of the mg club, doesn't really talk that much. but the
motor is a panckae type 4 that revs out to about 8ish grand. he almost wheels stands we think as he pulls up the first hill.
what really scary is there is a landcruiser that also races now nad then that is can keep up with a standard (non-sti) wrx. (try the october 2002)

i blame my head being warped from too many of those reflectors flashing past me for too long :alien
oops craig
some bugger got a 51 second run, musta been from another class... oops thought it was improved production.. that IS the class in question yerr?
oo and sorry to wayne... got confused with another vehicle... what the hell.... maybe i do need glasses.... pretty hard to confuse that vehicle with
another... i do remember it having a fairly wild looking exhaust system. or was that afterwards while i was feeding the monkeys, or playing ping pong
with the easter bunny...
