c'mon guys where's the info....this is worse than waiting for a new kid.

How sad in this day of technology when we have to wait for Dave to post info after a phnoe conversation with Pagey.

We should have a satelite focused over portland.....

OK.
The Vollkommen Art car(Project Exit Mould) won the final of quick 8 over Rod Penrose(cherry...doh!!).
Pete ran a best of 7.68@91mph and got 4 runs in with new combo.
Dave O'Connor ran a solid (7.68?) also but had some small engine woes .
Dave Becker looks like he lost a flywheel.
Adam also had some woes before the end...engine probs?...not quite sure.
All this info is second hand so if in error, sorry, but we gotta hear some results!!

Safe trip hope everyone!!

Thanks Dave.
That satelite is a good idea, maybe next year...

A long drive for 4 passes for Pete, but I bet he still had a fat time!!!

I think he had 4 full power runs and some test out passes.
Rodney ran in the sixes at 101mph.
That equates to mid-high tens at 125.,...good photo in that other post

Just spoke with Mike and Dave.
Their best was 6.20 / 120mph. They bent the wheelie bars up on one run and Mike said he stuffed a gear change on a run against Rod.
Dave didn't scare any locals today.
All good drag racing fun.
They're very pleased with how the car is running and said that the track is good aside from a rocky return road.
They like many are now making the long trip home.
I hope everyone has a safe trip.

Wow, 6.2@120

http://www.wallaceracing.com/8th-quarter.php

=9.8@148.8

My 9.76 pass was 6.4@117, so I think the 6.2 would be more in the 9.50 @ 150 area.

Pete. and "DOC"s 7.68 passes equate to 12.0 runs,
with pete's 91mph equating to nearly 113mph on the quarter.

I really dont know yet . I had 2 passes in it , one straight after the other and the engine was getting very hot after the second pass .
First pass was 6.73 @ 105mph and second pass I decided to shift from 1st to 4th , then back to 3rd and get on it and ran 7.3 @ 98mph .
I sat and let it cool for a while . The heads cooled down OK , but the oil was still very hot . I proceeded to do a burnout and the engine felt harsh . Backed up to the water again and I could hear a thumping noise with my foot on the clutch , so I drove it down the strip steadily and packed it away .

For me the best part of this whole weekend was the trip home , and just to get away from that cold , windy , rainy shithole of a place .
No disrespect to Craig and any of the organisers , but I will not be returning to Portland . It is way too much preparation and too far to go to see the same cars running , that we have seen at other VW drag meets . The majority of racers were from NSW and QLD . The event in my opinion needs to be held somewhere between Sydney and Brisbane .

Looks like you guys had some fun, Is there any reason it has to be an 1/8th mile track??

Surely Heathcote would be a better venue?

I think the cost to hire the longer tracks makes the event unviable.
Especially when the first event is a bit 'unknown' as to being a success.

Also Craig wanted to keep the " regional" feel of the smaller track.

Although I have heard that Heathcote has that 'feel' too.

I got some info from Rodney last night as he was on his way home.
He said that Sunday was a dry day (no rain) although it was very cold and a strong tail-wind all day.
He guessed it was worth a couple of mph !
Also the track was supoib.

He ran his best of 6.71@102mph.

He also said that Fabian ran his best ever at around 7.4@94mph.
This would put Fabian's inch pincher into the solid mid elevens.

Sounds like vic weather.
Shame Wayne broke something, maybe that is why not to fussed on the event?
The cold and wind sounds like it helped the cars with a few pb's.
Well done all who went, and BRING ON WARWICK !!!!

Does anyone have times of the other competitors? More pics?
From what I have heard it was a great event and the place was nice and the track was good.

We had a great weekend, Thanks Craig and all the people who did turn up to support this event.

It is a fair hike down there, about 1200ish K's each way for me, but is much better drive than going up all those hills to Warwick!! (I tow with a stock T3 ute)

My car ran very well all day Saturday, with a best time of 7.99 @85 mph, what tail wind!! then on the 2nd run Sunday the crank decided to part company with the flywheel, so I was on the trailer early.

We left the track 3pm, I drove all night and arrived home at 6am this morning, just finished unloading all the camping gear and washing the cars, now I'm going to bed

Thanks to Craig and to everyone who came down to make the event what it was. BIG up to those who drove 2k!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark Gottwalt in exit mould ran a best of 7.2 @100mph.
John Stylin ran a best of 7.5 @92mph.

Both cars did about ten or so passes over the weekend faultlessly loving the cool weather. The tail wind was great and the track even better.
The crowd loved the racing between full race cars and street cars from all different states.

once again thanks to Craig and all the interstates and the greats who came down like Peter Keegan and Tony Thornton.
