Though the notch is nice, it doesn't float my personal boat. And the fasty at a $10k sale price made me walk straight away.

I'm not sure what was planned for kids, however this was non-existant. As a family day, you like to try and make it that. However, good to catch up with people and chin wag as always.

Good job though in putting on the show, especially over such a number of days, with people giving up their Easter. It's always a thankless job - so...thankyou!

Here's some of the cars I enjoyed...

Yeah unfortunate about the weather, considering the days leading up were so good..
About the food... We had organised for 4 different food vendors for the day (including a T4 'cafe2U' & kombi ice cream van) + a sausage sizzle by the local community. There was also going to be a jumping castle for the kids & the trike guys were coming out to take people for rides. UNTIL... Oran Park decided to open their food shop & told us no one else was allowed. They also didnt want rides or the castle for 'insurance problems'. Even better was they told us 3 days before the event :grind:
So it was kinda out of our control, but anyway, glad you all came out & supported the event!

This is my sons car, glad you enjoyed it

do I detect the smell of jealousy? I think so.

Look, I don't know how its done but it is kosher. Personally, not my taste either, but then there are a whole host of what some you guys might call real hotrods that make me want to puke. Totally boring production line rods with boring samo mods and boring samo V8s. At least greedy is ready to try something different. I'm actually looking forward to what it looks like in a few years time. Sure it's rough now, but greedy usually ends up with something really cool, if a little left of center. For your info, period mods are ok on historic cars providing they are tasteful and are oked by the inspector of the car club.

BTW, if you want to get upset about people doing mods on cars, get upset about dangerous mods. Like for instance narrow beams without shocks. :td:

Here some of my pics, starting at Maccas at Thornliegh, the drive down to Oran Park, some of the lap dash action & a couple of the cars I fancied then camera ran out of batteries. Was good to catch up with a few a you guys that already knew as well as make a couple of new aquaintances. Got a couple of smaller parts at the swap meet & ate some of the Oran Park food (that hasnt changed since the early 90's when the Nationals drag day used to be there).
Thanks to all that were involved in putting it together.
Cheers
Brendan

I heard from a friend in the vintage car movement that the CMC are trying to hunt down the "Hotrod" (used very losely) on club plates. If they catch up with this vehicle and owner it will cause issues for ALL CLUBS on the Historic vehicle plate scheme. It won't matter if they are VW clubs or not it will affect everyone.
Clubs & Club registrars should be more careful with what they allow to be on the historic plate scheme.

surely not that hard to do since it must be registered to someone, and they have an address etc...

From what i saw the guy in the fairlane was the only one giving it some throught the lap dash! Sure he was sideways most of the time, but at least he went for it.

In saying this, i'd probably be going easy in my 58 once its finished. Good fun to watch though. Tops on ya to the 3tonn fairlane driver!!!

Yeah it was great to see someone driving an old classic near it's limit. Still that's what real racing is about. I only heard it as it did that neat piroiette [spelling?], but it sounded awesome. :punk:

I piked out, had to help my brother get his XW onto a car trailer in the rain  It was pissing fuel all over the intake manifold so we had to push the mother :grind: Ah well, at least I got me carport free now.

Looks like a neat run. Won't be long till Oran Park is houses anyway, so Im guessing they dont really care about 'repeat business' :( Good on ya to the guys who put the run together, wouldve been sweet without the rain.

Whats the go with the lap dashes? Was it just open to the general public?

Hi

It belongs to John Vellis, he owns a really nice Ghia and recently sold his Oval on here, it was on a late pan with Tele dials.
