you need the CTP paper work to take to the RTA so if you get the CTP on the net or fone you have to wait for them to post it out.
As your car has no rego, so no records of you or the car at the RTA

A mechanic cant submit a blue slip online the same way they do pink slips? Thats not too intelligent if thats the case. I guess we ARE talking RTA though.

I havent been to the RTA for a couple of years now and I have 2 registered cars. I do it all online. You dont have to wait for CTP. The insurers also submit online. http://rta.nsw.gov.au/myrta/myrego/index.html

on second thoughts there is probably a bit more involved for blue slip on the rta end. might not be that easy after all.

for re rego though... no problem.

It's more involved because you don't have a rego # for reference yet.

I had the same question back in June, so I asked the local constabulary.
So long as you drive it straight there & straight back, no problem.

My advice, go ask a copper. You can't go wrong.

Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

do not ever have old plates on your car, that is at least one more fine. I got done twice in one week driving unregistered.. first time fair enough i was picking the bus up from where i bought it .. but second time i put a good engine in it , went around the block to test.. and got done..(and cops are never around here) both times had old plates on. They slugged me with a total of 8 fines and about $4000. That kindof hurt, had to sell the bus to cover costs of fines haha. My understanding is that you need to tow cars to get blueslipped, unless you have a nice cop pull you over.
