I think you'll find "Kombi" came from Oz.
We use it as a generalised term.
A ute is a kombi, a bus is a kombi, a twin cab is a kombi & so is a panel van.
The only one that IS a kombi is the window panel van.
I go through the same sh!t every year with my 73. Register it as a van to keep my tare & gross weights, then insure it as a bus.
I'd never considered Phil's reasoning, but I think I like the idea of driving a BENT bus.......

I dont really like the name BAY window either, I only use it because it is what most people call them, most times when people ask me what I have, I
just tell them a 77 Kombi camper.

Woo hoo, nice to see a few Kombi owners agreeing with me! Right, 'bay window' goes into the dustbin (whoops, I mean the garbage).
It reminds me of a news item I saw recently that the Yanks were upset with the French for not supporting the Iraq war. They were pouring French wine
into rivers etc etc - and they wanted to change the name of 'french fries'.
What a great idea. They've always been 'chips' to me.
As an aside on the word Kombi - did you know that several of the Boeing 747 models that Qantas own are called '747 Kombis'. This is because
the seats can be shufffled around, or removed altogether. Just like our beloved VWs!

Curve?
I like curved screen but then again a splitscreen is just a hippywagon and a 68+ is a newer hippywagon which just catch on fire anyway,deadset
