Mike told me that the Dynodynamics software can give you a CALCULATED flywheel HP at the flick of a switch.(probably a button).

It varies with different cars of course.

This is not to say that is the case with yours.
MPH will tell the real HP either way.

If you want to keep your car all steel,
light wheels and brakes are the biggest savings
that I have looked into to get mine down
to the minimum class weight in future.(773kg)

oh ok so you mean a calculated FW hp from the 208 rwhp. Does that mean that the RWHP number is still reasonably acurate or no? ..... the final aim regardless is to have it running solid 11s so hopefully we can achieve this .... I have no clue of the weight of the car but we have attempted to lighten it somewhat with new weld draglites, lexan windows (other than the front), removed the bumpers and put in lighter seats. Sorry for all the questions im just sort of new to this.....

i guees i will be alittle under weight with the junka but who cares as long as it's fast.
taking fast vw's out to the street meet's is mad fun.i love the look on your fellow drag racers face at the start of the run.
and when you get back to the pit's when finished the look on there faces is priceless.even if you didn't win you usually give a mad scare.
i am looking good for the 28th so far.only waiting on a few more ods and sods.
damn yanks.

I am confident that the rear wheel number will be accurate.

But what I am unsure of,
is whether your number is the calculated FW number.

The graph should say this if it is the case.

My reason for this is that my own car ran 11.40 with only 188 wheel power,
and Rod R's car ran 11.96 with 168.

There is a good chance that it IS wheel HP though
with the parts your engine uses.

Also is the dyno calibrated?
My old drag car ran 12.05 with a dyno figure of only 137hp atw. !!!

Go figure?? [obviously vehicle weight comes into it but...]

Troy would really love an 11 second pass out of his Type 3. With a possible 250-300hp at the wheels(fingers crossed) it should be possible so long as the gearbox is co operative with 1100+ Kg's of car.

Hey guys we did have a run this past wednesday night but were unable to find second gear after many attempts in both runs. Both passes were very similar only achieving a 14 and a 15 second pass. It sounded as though on the second and final pass of the night that a valve went so back to the shop she goes...

Did you find out what the problem was ?

Have you had another run ?

I heard that a beetle had a melt down not that long ago at the drags, apparently it leaned out and burnt a hole right through the head and even the tinware !!!!!!!.

Hey Craig yea the rumour you heard is correct and unfortunately it was mine. A hole was burnt through the head and tinware. Not sure of the exact cause and what and if any other damage was done but the repair will be on the cards for the coming month. Cant wait to get it back out there and hopefully this time we wont hurt it lol. Oh by the way we are planning on EFI to make it more streetable

Yea it does suck.... well it is drivable but i just mean through low rpm which gets a bit rocky.. I just think that EFI will be a lot easier to maintain in terms of tuning etc..

were you running NOS ?........it seems very odd to burn a hole through comp eliminator heads and tinware just on pump fuel.

was it in good tune ?
