Im a '69 so luckily im 12v.
Bought what i though was an original accessory radio holder thingy that was meant to bolt into the dash. It must have been for an earlier or later
model cause it didnt fit, so had to trim it a little.
6x9's with spacers in the rear under the back seat, 6"s on the kickboards. Goes alright. Be sure to put your wires in before carpeting!

took the carpet back out yesterday and put in the 'underlay'.
bought a 2m square of 10mil thick felt for about 50 bucks, and cut it out to the countours of the floorpan, tunnel, front and rear kick boards,
and rear cargo area. acts as a cushioning for the carpet and hopefully sound insulation (to replace the old tarboard) as it is very dense.... would
have liked to have done it in one big piece (better insualtion) but it was too thick to bend tightly around the corners
2 meters gave me more than enough, still to do rear firewall (behind back seat)
here are some pics

How come you'e not put the BRM's on the rear yet? Do you need to swap over to short beetle axles to get them under?
Looking excellent though
Cheers

Hey Steve, yeah i still havent got around to putting the short bug axles in yet, they are just a bit to wide to fit under.
you can see those clear bullet lenses you sold me, cheers
trickysimon, yeah the underlay does seem to make a fair difference especially now i have it in the boot.

36 Dells
Just got theseoff the Samba recently... came in the mail on Friday.
They are 36 Dellorto Drla's. I have ordered the CB short manifolds and linkage kit which should be here soon and some smaller 28mm venturis and a
Delllorto handbook which should hopefully help me out.
I am pulling the engine out this week doing a bit each afternoon after work. I got the car up on stands at the rear and and ramps up fornt today. But
I have realised that my trolley jack wont reach high enough to the engine. a
what can i do? any ideas?
will post some pics tomorrow

Have the dell's been kitted recently?? They look sweet, Pretty sure thats what i want on my 1915. Sad that I have to wait for so long to do it.
Good luck with it all. You are pretty brave to just go for it.

yeh well done mate.
Get yourself some wood chocks and make sure you support the car on more than just the jack! Axles stands are good and cheap too.

hey jason, i dont know how long since they have been rebuilt but they have come off an alfa... they have been cleaned recently apparently though.
Thanks Mick, yeah i have the axle stands under the rear torsion housings and the front wheels are chocked on ramps.... it seems pretty sturdy but it
is scary when you think about the angle it is on...

You know your dells are still up on thesamba... ??
I think I like the idea of these - http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=731616
(40's)
With this kit (type one duh!) - https://secure.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?productid=537 (is it the one you got???)
Oh, might be nice on a Rod penrose 1916....
Trickysimon's new engine.... it looks awesome, and will be interested to see how much it puts out
Ah, If only I could afford that. I would totally race at warwick.

Ovi is being crap - it doesnt make sense anymore. Painting tinware is a mega good idea. clean up as much as you can while its out, set the tappets,
gap ya plugs. fun stuff.
Thanks for your previous comment, I appreciate it. Its actually kinda tough finacially at the moment, but my job starts soon, so hopefully get it
going well. YMIS is the sweetest course ever.
