That's the plan mate!! This car is tried and tested as far as thrashing goes. When i was a bit younger it used to cop a hiding all the time. I'm a
lil more sympathetic on the machinery these days though.

Well only have to do fuel lines, throttle linkage and exhaust and we'll see if it makes all the right noises. I cranked it over tonight and all was
good.

Well the old girl came back to life tonight. Took a bit get it started but now all good. Lifters are still a bit noisy and will need to run for a bit
longer to bleed out air but apart from that oil leaks are almost non existant and it idles like it has never been off the road.....
now to clean off some crud and wait for my other new bits to hopefully arrive in time.

Welll the ol girl is clean again but minus a lot of paint on the roof(flaking off LOL) so should make it lighter. Fixed a few small things up but now
indicators wont work. Swapped relays and still no go. Am buggered so gave up and will look at it tomorrow. Been awake since 4.30am this morning so
starting to need a kip of sorts.

Well my bus made it to Warwick albeit with a very trying time on Friday morning. Everything I check seemed to suddenly stop working and then had
drama's with tyres on new rims. Tyres hitting rear guards.
Anyway she ran good all weekend and ran a best of 11.35 @ 57.8MPH. I actually ran the second quickest time for a Kombi all weekend I think!!(only some
5 odd seconds behind Aaron LOL)
Not bad for a 2L type 4 with lots and lots of k's on the bottom end and just a quick fix on the top end.( replace piston, exhaust valves and reapir
head from dropped valve.)
My car was so quiet that I had to get someone to stand at the back of my car to move people out of the way everytime I reversed out of my pit bay!!

Great to see it there and running Brenndan - it was very quiet! I was in the staging lanes and had to do a double take as you were moving forward
without anyone pushing, but I couldn't hear anything

Well after driving home from Warwick with no brake lights and eye balling the rear vision mirror all the time I finally got around to fixing the
problem and a few other niggly little things that i have wanted to do for ages. Brake lights was a bit of a headache. I replaced the switch hoping it
would be an easy fix.Well no it didn't do a thing. One minute my test pencil was telling me it had power then the next it didn't. I checked the test
pencil and it was a bit on the dodgy side so in the bin it went and bought another.
The power to the switch was intermittent. Had it one minute then gone the next. Got a wiring diagram and started to trace wiring from front to back.
checked the fuse and it was good but put another in anyway. Still not a consistent power supply and no lights. So I pulled the fuse box off the mounts
under the dash and started checking the wiring behind. Found one wire that had rubbed through outer casing so fixed it. then did some tracing to the
brake light circuit and found the wires i needed to. well one was very loose on the terminal behind the fuse block so fixed it and made sure the
others were a tight fit as well.
While under the dash I sussed out the wiring on my stereo as it intermittently cut out when something else turned on(eg indicators etc) Problem
solved there!! My dad removed my old mobile phone car kit and took the earth wire off which also had the earth for the head unit. Repaired it and
again all good.Am also thinking that this could also be the cause of the loose wires behind the fuse box for brake lights as that was where the power
was sourced from. also fixed some dash lights that didn't work either. that was an easy fix LOL.
Now back to the brake lights. the new switch was a 3 pin switch and the old one was 2 pin. So had to play musical wires till i got the right wire on
the right pin till the brake lights came on when you put your foot on the pedal and then released. Yay all good!! but then one light stopped working
so then had to check all the earths for the tail lights in the engine bay. One earth was a bit loose so quick fix and everything is working AOK.
My back is pretty sore today after spending hours under the dash in somewhat contorted positions. It's been a long time since I worked on my van and
I seemed to have more room from memory last time. Maybe the car has got smaller??? Actually no I think me has got a big bigger..... like 15 kg or so
LOL
But i think I lost about 5 kg in sweat being so hot and almost tearing the remains of my hair out from getting into the car then getting under the car
then back in the car again.
Something I haven't done for nearly 4 years so i guess my van is making up for lost time. did i miss it?? No but it certainly is starting to rekindle
the passion i had for the car and appreciate the effort I have put into it in years gone by.
Now to start building a 2.7 type 4. Chest pains beginning already ...........

i thought i would get in before brennden as he usually gets in about my car before i do, anyway the poor old kombi is feeling abit sick, its life
support(fuel pump) is giving up the ghost. well it did sit idle for a few years so what do you expect. brennden has bought a cheap pump from repco to
fit into place of the holly red, so hopefully it can flow enough to that massive 2.0lt power plant. we will see if it makes it to the gold coast
show..

Forget the chest pain, keep the testicles well guarded.
With the cost of type 4's they may not be there one morning!

Racked off the Holley pump and regulator. Stupid pressure gauge simply doesn't tell the truth as the fuel pressure is 0 one minute and the next it is
nearly 5 psi. Pump works ok but when sitting idling for any length of time it seems to just simply stop pumping fuel. engine stalls so you start it
and the pump starts again and you can hear it cavitate for a split second then regains full pressure. I'm over it and went and bought a Facet pump
that flows more than enough for what i need and pressure from 4-7psi which is heaps.
Fitted it up and drove from Slacks Creek to Boondall entertainment centre in just over 20 minutes. Everything is all good!!
Old mate in his Mazda SP23 didn't like me pulling out and passing him on the inside lane of a bend at highish speed. But i was late for a basketball
game and I guess he was a bit too slow LOL

Bought some goodies for new engine last night. big thanks to 66 deluxe for hooking me up with a good deal.
After purchasing a 2465 Type 4 from Dak A Tak(engine my uncle built a few years ago) I have now added a 78mm full circle counterweight DPR stroker
crank from Jake Raby.
2700cc Type 4 is now under way......
Will post some pics shortly....

Well it has been a while since I have tried to do some work on the bus but after the rush of trying to organise the dyno day and also get my car ready
as well something had to miss out - the car.
Dropped the carbs off today to get the seized air bleeds sorted and also bought a completly new linkage kit to remove any excess movement and
hopefully solve the problem of out of sync carbs.
Once that is all together it's off to the dyno to get the mixtures etc sorted for Warwick and have the thing running properly with time to spare!!
I'll have to wait and see if all will go to plan this time.......
